Manager, Simulation Workbench

Concurrent Real-Time is currently seeking a full-time Manager to lead our Simulation Workbench (SimWB) team!

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on engineering leader to run our Simulation Workbench team. SimWB is our real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform, used by customers in automotive, aerospace, and defense to test control systems against real hardware. This is a working manager role on a small, close-knit team: you will set direction, own delivery, and grow the group, while still contributing to the product as an engineer. You will also own product direction for SimWB, deciding what gets built and why, working alongside the team’s Principal Engineer on architecture and technical strategy. You will work closely with Applications Engineering, Support, and Manufacturing, and you will be close enough to the code to make sound engineering trade-offs yourself.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the SimWB engineering team, setting priorities, tracking status, and removing obstacles so the team delivers predictably
• Stay hands-on, contributing directly to design, code, and technical problem solving alongside the team
• Own on-time shipment of SimWB systems, working with Manufacturing to ensure systems ship complete, tested, and on schedule
• Own the SimWB release process, including planning, build, validation, packaging, and communication of release content to stakeholders
• Oversee SimWB licensing, including license generation, demo licenses, and renewals
• Coordinate with the Support and Applications Engineering teams so customer issues are resolved in a timely manner and product knowledge is shared across groups
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop engineers, and build depth so critical knowledge is held by the team rather than by individuals
• Own the SimWB roadmap and product direction, deciding with the team’s Principal Engineer which new features and functions to pursue, and translating customer and market needs into work the team can credibly deliver
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies that can strengthen the product and the way the team works, for example the integration of AI into the SimWB product and into the design and development flow, and make recommendations on where they add real value
• Report on team progress, risks, and resource needs to senior management

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading or managing an engineering team
• Strong experience developing or delivering software in a Linux environment
• Current hands-on development ability in C and C++, with working knowledge of Java, and a genuine willingness to stay in the code
• Experience owning product direction, roadmap, or technical architecture for a product
• Demonstrated ownership of software releases and delivery schedules
• Experience working directly with customers or with customer-facing teams on technical escalations
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

Nice to Have

• Experience with real-time systems, RTOS, or hardware-in-the-loop simulation
• Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Dymola, or CarMaker
• Understanding of I/O boards and communication protocols such as EtherCAT, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, or CAN
• Experience with Jira, Jenkins, and modern CI/CD practices
• Experience integrating AI or machine learning capability into a software product, or introducing AI tooling into an engineering development flow
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

Compensation:

The pay range for this position is $175K - $200K annually plus 10% bonus. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as physical work location within the state.
