Full Job Description
Location: Silver Bay, MN

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Shift Manager Maintenance position at our Northshore Mining facility in Silver Bay, MN. The primary responsibility of this position will be to direct and monitor the maintenance programs associated with the Pellet Plant. This will include direct supervision and leadership of the maintenance work force toward the implementation and compliance to predictive, planned, and/or break in work schedules.

Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Create and promote a positive working atmosphere in order to safely and efficiently execute the goals of the maintenance plan.
  • Be a champion of safety - through safety interactions, safety meetings and by example.
  • Conduct weekly safety and information meetings within area.
  • Coach, direct and develop technicians within their area.
  • Follow-up on any safety concerns brought forth by maintenance technicians in a timely manner.
  • Produce, maintain and publish daily and weekly schedules as required to maintain the plant production targets utilizing computer software programs.
  • Verify parts, tools and equipment availability to ensure efficient work execution.
  • Ensure proper work order discipline is maintained.
  • Oversee contractors involved in maintenance activities and projects.
  • Communicate to all crew members their job assignments, timing expectations, and associated tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mining or heavy industry.
  • Bachelors or Vocational degree in related field or at least 5 years related work experience is required.
  • Previous successful leadership experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and delegate.
  • Strong equipment troubleshooting skills.
  • Thorough understanding of predictive and reliability centered maintenance.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate multiple work tasks with a variety of employees, departments and outside contractors.
  • Be a champion of safe production and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Facilitate the development of employees by providing constructive feedback and continuous coaching.

The salary range for this role is $95,000 - $110,000. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location and business or organizational needs.
