How You'll Make an Impact

You'll be the leader on the ground who sets the tone for each shift. By keeping people safe, equipment moving, and communication tight, you'll directly influence production, team morale, and overall site performance. Your leadership will help ensure MacKay delivers consistent, high-quality results while living our BUILD Core Values every single day.

We are currently recruiting for this position with an estimated project start of mid-September 2026.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading and supervising mining crews during assigned shifts
  • Planning and coordinating daily production, manpower, equipment, and materials
  • Championing safety through FLHAs, pre-shift meetings, and active field presence
  • Monitoring production targets and adjusting priorities as needed
  • Ensuring compliance with HSRC, site rules, and MacKay standards
  • Managing attendance, time-off requests, and approving daily timesheets
  • Supporting training, coaching, and development of team members
  • Coordinating equipment use, care, and basic maintenance needs
  • Communicating issues, risks, and progress to the Project Manager
  • Setting the example for professionalism, accountability, and teamwork


Who You Are / What You Bring

  • A strong, hands-on leader who leads by example

  • Valid Shift Boss Certificate
  • 5+ years of experience in open pit mining operations
  • Solid understanding of mining equipment, production processes, and site logistics
  • Knowledge of HSRC, mining regulations, and safe work practices
  • Comfortable using computers and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Clear communicator who can motivate crews and manage expectations
  • Calm under pressure and confident making decisions in real time
  • Class 5 Driver's Licence
