JOB SUMMARYThe Settlement Analyst performs settlement calculations for the ERCOT nodal market and responds to inquiries from Market Participants' Account Representatives. Analysts build deep expertise in settlement calculations and support projects to implement and enhance ERCOT's Commercial Operations Systems. Serves as the subject matter expert for settlement of the ERCOT nodal market. Develops protocol language and system requirements related to Settlements. Creates test cases, test scripts, test data, and validation tools (using SAS) to test changes to the settlement system.
JOB DUTIESLevel I- Assists with projects, as necessary, to implement ERCOT's Commercial Operations Systems, including future enhancements
- Assists with system development, product implementation, certification, and testing
- Develops and maintains a strong understanding of the competitive energy markets
- Identifies and recommends improvements to procedures and software that increase accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness
- Writes and executes SQL queries to generate results for analytical reports
- Writes and executes SAS code to certify system changes and verify calculations from the production system
- Resolves Market Participant questions, disputes, and data errors related to settlement computations
- Assists with day-to-day team activities
- Keeps the Senior and/or Lead Settlement Analyst informed of system issues through formal status reports and informal updates (email, team discussion)
- Notifies leadership of key issues in a timely manner
- Builds strong working relationships with Settlement Team members and colleagues across ERCOT departments
- Clearly communicates complex technical concepts, in writing and verbally, to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Supports the Settlement Team and collaborates with peers to meet team objectives and ERCOT initiatives
- Maintains working knowledge of market and power systems, and understands how data elements flow from these systems into the settlement system
Level II - Includes all Level I duties, plus:- Demonstrates advanced knowledge and expertise in detailed settlement calculations
- Takes initiative to identify and recommend solutions and improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness
- Serves on projects to implement ERCOT's Commercial Operations Systems, including future enhancements
- Mentors other analysts within the department
- Applies knowledge of the software development lifecycle to complete tasks, enhance tools, and support effective process flow
Senior Level - Includes all Level I and II duties, plus:- Provides on-the-job training and oversees the work of other analysts
- May lead projects to implement ERCOT's Commercial Operations Systems, including future enhancements
- Ensures the quality of deliverables and artifacts produced by Settlement Analysts
- Supports the Lead Settlement Analyst with day-to-day team activities
EXPERIENCE- Level I: Requires no minimum work experience beyond degree requirements
- Level II: Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience beyond degree requirements
- Senior Level: Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience beyond degree requirements
EDUCATION- Requires Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or a related field (required), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prefer proficient in Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and graphs
- Prefer comfortable interpreting and manipulating algebraic equations
- Prefer experience with, or aptitude for, SQL, Visual Basic, and SAS
WORK LOCATION- Employees are required to work on-site in Taylor, TX at least 2 days per week, or more as business needs require, as determined by management
- On-site schedules are flexible and may be adjusted based on business needs, as determined by the Manager
- Remote work must be performed from the employee's Texas residence
- Employees may choose to work on-site more than required, up to full-time

Expected Salary Range:
$83,000 - $114,000
