The Services Application Engineer is a senior technical role within the Services Engineering team, responsible for delivering advanced power system solutions across the full project lifecycle-from opportunity development and tendering to execution and customer support.
This role works closely with Sales, Tendering, Ecofit, Project Managers, and Service teams to define, design, and deliver electrical distribution, automation, and digital power solutions that meet customer requirements and industry standards.
Responsibilities- Lead engineering and design activities for power system projects, with a focus on brownfield upgrades
- Develop and deliver electrical distribution and control system designs that meet customer and industry requirements
- Prepare technical reports, studies, recommendations, and mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with Sales and Tendering teams to support technical proposals, cost estimates, and client presentations
- Engage directly with customers to assess needs, define solutions, and act as a trusted technical advisor
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and internal engineering guidelines
- Provide technical expertise, guidance, and quality assurance throughout project execution
- Support opportunity development and technical qualification activities
- Contribute to consulting and digital service offerings (e.g., power system studies, digital twin, power quality analysis)
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, supporting lifecycle services such as upgrades, maintenance, and optimization
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, contractors, and consultants
- Travel within Canada as required to support customer engagements and project delivery
Qualifications & RequirementsEducation & Certifications- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Science, or a related field
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility in Canada
Experience- 10+ years of progressive experience in power systems engineering
- Recognized expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Power Systems
- Digital Power / Power Quality
- Automation & Control
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on medium to large-scale projects
- Proven ability to independently manage complex technical scopes
- Experience supporting technical sales, proposals, and customer presentations
Technical Knowledge- Strong background in engineering design, system studies, and technical documentation
- Experience with vendor evaluation and procurement support
- Familiarity with power system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM) is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
Skills & Competencies- Strong customer-focused mindset with the ability to develop practical, innovative solutions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset
Other Requirements- Willingness to travel across Canada as needed
The expected pay range is CAD 91,200 - CAD 136,800 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives.
