As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a skilled and customer-focused Marine Service Writer & Manager to lead our service operations.
About the Role
The Marine Service Writer & Manager acts as the central point of communication between customers and our service department. This role blends technical knowledge, scheduling, customer relations, and team leadership. Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers and assess service needs related to Yamaha Jet Boats, SEA PRO Boats, Yamaha Outboards, Suzuki Outboards, and other marine systems
- Create detailed and accurate work orders and service estimates
- Manage and schedule technician workloads for optimal efficiency
- Ensure timely updates and clear communication with customers throughout repairs
- Review and close repair orders, ensuring accurate invoicing
- Support technicians with documentation, warranty claims, and technical guidance
- Maintain a professional, organized service department environment
- Lead and motivate the service team to uphold G&R Marine’s high standards
- Identify workflow improvements and uphold quality control
⚓ Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a service writer or service manager in marine, powersports, or automotive environments
- Knowledge of Yamaha Outboards, Suzuki Outboards, and general boat systems (rigging, electrical, mechanical)
- Excellent communication skills and professional customer service demeanor
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced setting
- Capable of interpreting technical manuals, service bulletins, and diagnostics
- Proficiency with service management software and basic computer programs
- Valid driver’s license; boating certifications a bonus
