What You'll Do:- Lead and grow Versar's Environmental Restoration & Health service line for U.S. federal customers, establishing strategy, operating objectives, technical standards, and measurable performance goals.
- Develop and execute a growth strategy integrating site characterization, remedial investigations and feasibility studies, remedial design and construction, remedy operations and optimization, environmental health, risk assessment, emerging contaminants, and site closure.
- Serve as a senior client and technical advisor, aligning environmental restoration and health strategies with regulatory obligations, mission requirements, community protection, budgets, schedules, and long-term stewardship.
- Oversee complex programs involving contaminated soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, soil gas, vapor intrusion, petroleum, hazardous substances, munitions-related constituents, and emerging contaminants, including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances.
- Guide multidisciplinary teams through preliminary assessments, site inspections, investigations, feasibility studies, engineering evaluations and cost analyses, corrective measures studies, remedial designs, removal actions, construction, operations and maintenance, optimization, and closure.
- Provide senior oversight for human health and ecological risk assessments, exposure evaluations, environmental toxicology, risk communication, occupational and community health considerations, and risk-management strategies.
- Integrate environmental, health, and safety planning into field investigations, laboratory programs, remediation construction, system operations, emergency response, and other site activities.
- Ensure technical approaches and deliverables align with applicable federal and state requirements and customer procedures, including programs governed by CERCLA, RCRA, underground storage tank requirements, and other site-specific authorities.
- Establish project governance, quality-management, independent technical-review, and data-quality processes that produce accurate, consistent, auditable, and implementation-ready work products.
- Advise project teams on conceptual site models, data-quality objectives, remedial alternatives, treatability and pilot studies, lifecycle costs, sustainability, regulatory strategy, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and long-term remedy performance.
- Build, mentor, and retain a multidisciplinary team of engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, chemists, toxicologists, risk assessors, environmental scientists, health and safety professionals, data specialists, construction managers, and project managers.
- Plan workforce capacity, identify critical skill gaps, support recruiting and professional development, and coordinate resources across offices, laboratories, subcontractors, business areas, and partner organizations.
- Maintain trusted relationships with federal program executives, contracting personnel, installation leaders, regulators, public health and resource agencies, tribal representatives, community stakeholders, and teaming partners.
- Lead capture and proposal activities for strategic federal opportunities, including market positioning, client engagement, solution development, teaming, technical approaches, staffing plans, bases of estimate, risk reviews, and oral presentations.
- Monitor market, policy, regulatory, funding, scientific, and technology developments affecting federal remediation and environmental health programs and translating them into service offerings and investment priorities.
- Champion innovation and technology-enabled delivery by identifying, evaluating, piloting, and scaling practical solutions that enhance technical quality, data integrity, decision-making, project efficiency, lifecycle cost, and environmental outcomes.
- Oversee service-line financial and operational performance, including pipeline, backlog, revenue, profitability, utilization, project health, forecast accuracy, quality, safety, and corrective actions, consistent with assigned authority and company procedures.
- Partner with business development, operations, contracts, finance, legal, health and safety, quality, and other corporate functions to manage technical, contractual, financial, and execution risks.
- Represent Versar at client meetings, industry events, professional associations, technical forums, and conferences, strengthening the company's reputation in federal environmental restoration and health markets.
- Travel periodically to federal facilities, installations, project sites, client offices, and industry events while complying with applicable safety, security, ethics, medical-clearance, and information-handling requirements.
What You'll Bring:- Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, chemical, or geotechnical engineering; geology; hydrogeology; environmental science; toxicology; or a related scientific or technical discipline.
- Fifteen or more years of progressively responsible experience in federal environmental remediation, restoration, or related consulting services, including leadership of complex multidisciplinary programs or portfolios. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated experience supporting U.S. federal civilian agencies, military departments, federal installations, environmental restoration programs, or other mission-oriented federal organizations.
- Deep knowledge of the environmental remediation lifecycle, including site characterization, conceptual site model development, alternatives evaluation, remedy selection, design, construction, operations, optimization, performance monitoring, and closure.
- Working knowledge of CERCLA, RCRA corrective action, and related federal and state environmental restoration frameworks.
- Broad knowledge of remediation technologies for soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, soil gas, and vapor intrusion, including evaluation of implementability, effectiveness, lifecycle cost, sustainability, and risk.
- Experience addressing emerging contaminants, preferably including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, and adapting programs to evolving science, policy, analytical methods, and regulatory expectations.
- Demonstrated commitment to safe field and construction execution, including knowledge of project health and safety planning and hazardous-waste operations requirements.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing multidisciplinary teams, managers, and technical leads while maintaining high standards for technical quality, safety, and client service.
- Experience managing program or portfolio scope, schedule, budget, staffing, subcontractors, financial performance, quality, safety, and risk across multiple concurrent projects.
- Demonstrated success with federal business development, capture planning, proposal leadership, client engagement, teaming, and expansion of existing accounts or service offerings.
- Ability to translate complex engineering, scientific, regulatory, health, and stakeholder issues into clear executive decisions, practical delivery strategies, and concise written and visual communications.
- Exceptional leadership, collaboration, negotiation, facilitation, technical writing, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate, implement, and scale innovative technologies, digital solutions, or improved delivery methods within environmental, engineering, scientific, construction, or federal program environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications. Familiarity with environmental data-management systems, geographic information systems, environmental modeling tools, project controls, customer relationship management, and business intelligence applications is preferred.
- Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist registration, Project Management Professional certification, advanced degree, or another relevant professional credential is preferred.
- Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and required refreshers, or the ability to complete the required training before performing covered field work.
- Ability to travel to federal customer sites and work in office, field, laboratory, construction, industrial, or installation environments as required by the assignment.
- Ability to meet project-specific medical surveillance, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, training, and site-access requirements when applicable.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the federal background investigation, credential, site access, or security clearance required by the customer or contract.
- Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Successful completion of preemployment screenings, including a federal background check, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening, as applicable to the position.

- Authorization to work in the United States by the successful candidate's start date.
Compensation Expected Salary: $180,000/yr - $200,000/yr

Location RequirementsThe positions is flexible to remote, hybrid, or office locations. The employee may be required to work at Versar offices, federal customer locations, installations, project sites, or other approved facilities. Travel of up to 25% may be required.
