Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Senior Software Integration Engineer with a strong background and passion for the integration and testing of real-time, embedded software systems. This role is responsible for planning and performing software and hardware integration activities within combat vehicle systems, including integrating software onto Linux operating systems, scripting, networking, cybersecurity hardening and scanning, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and software verification testing.
The Senior Software Integration Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and vehicle test teams, provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers, and ensure solutions meet customer, technical, system, performance, process, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Integrate and test software applications running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and hardware components within combat vehicle systems.
- Build and maintain software and hardware integration testbeds.
- Integrate software applications, including RPM packages, binary executables, drivers, shared objects, and static libraries.
- Apply knowledge of Ethernet and CAN bus protocols to test, diagnose, and troubleshoot software and system-level issues.
- Support scripting, networking, cybersecurity hardening, vulnerability scanning, and software verification testing activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and vehicle test teams to investigate reported issues and analyze collected test data.
- Troubleshoot software, hardware, networking, and system integration issues using critical thinking and structured problem-solving techniques.
- Mentor less experienced software engineers in software integration and testing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving techniques.
- Ensure technical approaches are consistent with established engineering principles and practices.
- Ensure product outcomes meet customer needs and applicable technical, system, performance, process, and quality requirements.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with customers to identify and resolve technical problems.
- Travel to customer sites as required.
- Support integration and testing activities involving combat vehicle systems.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
- Minimum of 4 years of software integration experience.
- Experience integrating and testing software applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems.
- Experience with software packaging and integration, including:
- RPM packages
- Binary executables
- Drivers
- Shared objects
- Static libraries
- Ability to build and maintain software and hardware integration testbeds.
- Understanding of Ethernet and CAN bus protocols.
- Experience with Git and configuration/project management tools such as Jira or GitLab.
- Familiarity with current computer applications and technologies applicable to relevant engineering disciplines.
- Strong critical-thinking skills with the ability to solve technical design and development problems.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective customer relationships while resolving technical issues.
- Ability to travel to customer sites as required.
- Ability to work on combat vehicle systems.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Familiarity with embedded systems.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, and Python.
- Familiarity with C and C++ programming.
- Familiarity with VxWorks or other real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-1553.
- Familiarity with UML modeling tools.
- Familiarity with DOORS.
- Familiarity with CMMI for Development.
- Familiarity with the Qt Framework and QML for front-end GUI development.
- Familiarity with Ethernet-based protocols, including SSL/TLS, SSH, and SFTP.
- Familiarity with Nessus and Coverity cybersecurity scanning tools.
- Familiarity with system hardening and applying STIG requirements.
- Familiarity with the configuration and use of virtual machines.
- Experience using NI TestStand.
- Familiarity with combat vehicle functionality and capabilities.
