Description

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Sr.Vice President, IT will set and lead Viridian's enterprise technology strategy, ensuring secure, compliant, scalable, and business-enabling systems that support the company's growth as a public, commercial-stage, international biotechnology organization. This leader will oversee IT operations, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, AI governance, data strategy, GxP-regulated systems, and workplace services, while serving as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on technology, risk, operational scalability, and commercial readiness.

This role is based in our Waltham, MA headquarters.

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
  • Set the enterprise technology vision, strategy, roadmap, and operating model to support Viridian's growth as a public, international, commercial-stage biotechnology company
  • Lead IT operations, enterprise applications, infrastructure, service delivery, and end-user support across R&D, Clinical, Quality, Commercial, Finance, HR, and other business functions
  • Advance enterprise data governance, reporting, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities to improve decision-making and organizational performance
  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing IT and workplace services organization while managing budgets, vendors, contracts, and strategic investments
  • Lead enterprise application strategy and lifecycle management across key business platforms, ensuring systems are integrated, secure, scalable, and user-focused
  • Manage governance for AI, automation, data management, analytics, and emerging technologies to enable responsible adoption, risk management, data protection, vendor oversight and measurable value realization (partnering with legal, compliance, quality and other similar departments as needed)
  • Manage cybersecurity strategy, enterprise risk management related to IT, infrastructure resilience, business continuity, disaster recovery, third-party risk, and vendor oversight (partnering with legal, compliance, quality and other similar departments as needed)
  • Support regulatory inspections and preparation for the same with respect to information technology, validated systems and data integrity matters
  • Partner with Commercial, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Operations to support commercial operations and the launch of new products, including commercial systems, field enablement, and business growth
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on technology, cyber security, AI, information systems, digital transformation, data management and use, risk, and operational scalability
  • Provide clear, actionable technology, cybersecurity, and risk updates to executive leadership, the Audit Committee and/or the Board of Directors
  • Ensure enterprise systems, regulated platforms, and technology processes align with GxP, FDA, 21 CFR Part 11, SOX, data privacy, and internal control expectations


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • 20+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, preferably in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other regulated environments
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise IT strategy, operations, infrastructure, applications, service delivery, and support for a growing public company
  • Experience supporting commercial launch readiness and commercial operations through secure, scalable, and compliant technology capabilities
  • Experience supporting a public company environment, including SOX compliance, internal controls, external audits, and executive governance.
  • Strong knowledge of GxP systems, computer system validation, data integrity, FDA expectations, 21 CFR Part 11, SOX, data privacy, and internal controls
  • Proven leadership of cybersecurity, enterprise risk management, business continuity, disaster recovery, third-party risk, and Audit Committee or Board reporting
  • Experience advancing AI governance, automation, digital transformation, enterprise applications, data strategy, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives
  • Track record of building, mentoring, and scaling high-performing IT and workplace services teams while managing budgets, vendors, contracts, MSPs, and strategic investments
  • Strong executive presence, business acumen, communication skills, and ability to influence senior leaders, cross-functional partners, and external stakeholders
  • Strong commitment to ethical standards
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience
