DescriptionThe PENTA Building Group is looking for a Senior VDC Manager to lead VDC delivery across a regional portfolio of commercial construction projects. This role sets the execution standard for all VDC workflows, leads a regional team of VDC professionals, and serves as the primary VDC leader for project teams and clients. The right candidate brings deep construction knowledge, a track record of leading teams, and the ability to translate VDC strategy into consistent, field-relevant results on every project.
A PENTA Senior VDC Manager is also responsible for:
Pursuit
- Lead the development of VDC content for project pursuits including VDC narratives, construction approach, visualization strategies and logistics concepts in coordination with preconstruction and marketing.
- Represent VDC in owner interviews and shortlist presentations. Communicate VDC scope, approach, and value to clients and owners with clarity and confidence.
- Define VDC scope and budget for pursuit projects.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, design partners, and trade contractors.
Preconstruction
- Own the VDC Management Plan for all projects in the regional portfolio from project award through completion.
- Define the model coordination process for each project including subcontractor model requirements, coordination meeting cadence, issue tracking protocol, and deliverable schedule.
- Lead design review and constructability analysis sessions using design drawings and project models.
- Coordinate with the preconstruction team on quantity tracking and cost support where required.
- Assign and direct VDC Engineers on preconstruction deliverables.
- Direct existing conditions documentation including reality capture, as-built review and site verification at project initiation.
Construction
- Lead VDC delivery across all active workflows in the regional portfolio including visualization, model coordination, design review, reality capture and field technology.
- Lead model coordination meetings across the regional portfolio, managing issue logs and trade partner commitments.
- Represent VDC in project-level conversations with project executives, general superintendents, project managers, subcontractors, and design teams.
- Lead the regional VDC team by setting clear expectations, reviewing output, and developing team members.
- Manage regional VDC staffing and resource allocation across the portfolio.
- Direct reality capture operations across the portfolio using laser scanning and aerial drones.
- Support RFI resolution using model and coordination data.
Closeout
- Lead the VDC closeout process across the regional portfolio including as-built model documentation, final reality capture, and deliverable handover to the owner or facilities team.
- Lead VDC lessons learned reviews at project closeout and contribute findings to department-wide standards improvement.
VDC Initiatives
- Lead VDC learning and development initiatives across PENTA including contributing to training content, delivering sessions in areas of expertise, and building team capacity.
- Drive operational excellence by identifying opportunities to apply innovative technology solutions and improve VDC workflows across the portfolio.
- Advance VDC marketing and branding by communicating the value and capabilities of PENTA's VDC practice through pursuit content, project narratives and client-facing materials.
We trust that you have:
- Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8-10 years of experience in design and construction, with demonstrated experience leading VDC delivery across multiple projects or regions.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams, including responsibility for performance, development, and workload planning.
- Proven ability to develop and implement VDC standards and processes across multiple projects and regions.
- Strong understanding of construction project delivery methods and how VDC supports preconstruction, coordination, field operations, and closeout.
- Demonstrated ability to represent VDC independently in executive-level and client-facing conversations.
We'd like for you to have:
- BIM or VDC industry certification
- Experience leading technology implementation or process rollout across multiple teams
- Familiarity with Autodesk Build, Navisworks, ACC Model Coordination, Revit, Lumion, or TwinMotion, Leica RTC 360, DroneDeploy, and Trimble field layout tools.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, practices, and procedures across all project phases.
- Ability to lead and develop a team by setting clear expectations, giving direct feedback, and building capability.
- Clear, audience-appropriate communication, both written and verbal with project teams, executives, and clients.
- Structured approach to identifying problems, evaluating solutions, and implementing improvements.
- Ability to manage competing priorities across a regional portfolio without compromising delivery quality.
- Proactive, solutions-based approach.
- Commitment to applying VDC standards consistently and building technical depth across all project phases.
- Adaptability to evolving technology, changing project demands, and organizational growth.
- Ability to sit for 5-8 hours and stand, walk, or move for 1-4 hours in an 8-hour day.
- Occasional lifting up to 15 pounds.
- Ability to travel between multiple projects spanning our Southern California region (Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino County).
- Salary Range DOE $110,000 - $130,000
The PENTA Building Group maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs, and market demands. The pay range may differ in other locations. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors and is in good faith and/or offer for this position.
