Senior UX Researcher
Job Description
As a Senior UX Researcher, you will define and execute user research programs, spanning a broad set of experiences and modalities. You will be embedded within a core product area, developing subject matter expertise while delivering research that directly informs product strategy and design decisions. The research activities you lead will help the team develop a deeper understanding of the users we serve. You will help the team act on user insights to empower our customers and play a critical role in the measurement lifecycle, helping guide the team to address our customers' biggest pain points as they accomplish their jobs to be done.
Key Responsibilities
In this role as Senior UX Researcher, you will:
- Determine and recommend the most efficient and effective user-centered research approaches — qualitative and quantitative — to solve for business needs, meet agreed-upon objectives, and guide business areas through the appropriate UX process
- Lead exploratory and generative research studies, including discovery research that frames the problem space, identifies user needs, and gathers enough evidence and initial direction to define what to do next
- Plan, design, and execute tactical research initiatives such as usability testing and concept testing, using both moderated and unmoderated methodologies (e.g., facilitated sessions, surveys, click tests)
- Monitor UX project execution, including establishing and tracking relevant UX project metrics and UX product scorecards
- Develop foundational UX research artifacts such as user journeys, behavioural archetypes, heuristic guidelines, etc.
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to help drive product and design decisions
- Work collaboratively with UX designers, content writers, product teams, development teams, and other stakeholders as part of an agile software development process
- Support, partner with, and influence multi-disciplinary teams — including leadership across product and other business areas — to execute UX projects
- Leverage generative AI tools to accelerate and enhance research workflows and processes
- Be a self-starter — take initiative and drive projects from beginning to end with a high degree of independence
- Take ownership of self-development; stay current with emerging research techniques, tools, and AI-driven practices in the field of UX
- Mentor and assist UX Researchers as needed
- Be a dedicated advocate of a user-centered, evidence-based approach to product development, while balancing business needs
- Contributes to and refines establishment of department UX standards and practices.
Required Qualifications
You are a fit for the role of Senior UX Researcher if you have:
- A Master's degree or higher in a field such as Cognitive Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, Human Factors, Engineering Psychology, Interactive Design, or a related discipline — or equivalent industry experience; candidates with a Bachelor's degree and strong demonstrated industry experience will also be considered
- 5+ years of UX research experience;
- Experience in UX research on B2B SaaS solutions
- Experience conducting both exploratory/generative and tactical research, including usability testing and concept testing across moderated and unmoderated formats
- Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research throughout an agile development process
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort planning, prioritizing, conducting, analyzing, and communicating research across a variety of contexts and stakeholder levels — including senior leadership
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build compelling research narratives and communicate insights effectively to cross-functional teams and leadership
- A curious, hands-on approach to leveraging generative AI tools to accelerate UX research workflows (applied experience is a strong asset)
- The ability to operate independently with minimal administrative overhead, while remaining communicative and collaborative with your manager and key stakeholders
- Experience with data analytics to inform UX research direction
Preferred Qualifications
- A portfolio is a nice-to-have; all candidates will be expected to walk through at least one strong past project during the interview process
