ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions and Primary Duties- Underwrite, service, and manage assigned accounts of high *complexity
- May have production goals assigned and measured on new business goal attainment
- Prepare and maintain periodic reports pertinent to the ongoing operation of the department
- Monitor and evaluate programs for profitability
- Assess exposure and determine rates, terms and conditions of coverage in accordance with guidelines and uses judgement underwriting to evaluate a risk
- Determine either to accept, modify, or decline risks and request reinsurance as necessary
- Decrease value of policy when risk is substandard to limit company obligation, and specify applicable endorsements, or apply rating to ensure safe and profitable distribution of risks
- Develop or modify policy wording when standard text is not appropriate
- Bind coverage and initiate issuance of documents
- Sign policy and authorize transmittal of documents to brokers and markets as required
- Additional responsibilities as assigned

Preferred QualificationsQualificationsMinimum Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED required
- At least 5 years of underwriting experience
- Must maintain current required licenses and certifications relevant to field of expertise
- Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
- Advanced customer service skills
- Proficient use of applicable technology
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Ability to analyze and prioritize multiple responsibilities
