  • Deliver professional communication to resolve issues with policyholders and territory producers.
  • Cultivate external client relationships, including occasional travel or virtual meetings with agents.
  • Keep Territory Management updated on key issues and competitive insights.
  • Engage in focus groups to contribute to product improvement initiatives.

Overview

The Property and Casualty Underwriter administers the underwriting of BOP, package, commercial auto and umbrella accounts in compliance with company guidelines, individual line authority, and pricing standards. They maintain a solid understanding of AmTrust’s mission, vision, and values and uphold the standards of the AmTrust organization.

Responsibilities
  • Write and retain a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing and servicing and share in accountability with team in meeting territory goals.
  • Maintain compliance with state filings and adhere to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines.
  • Provide timely processing of notices, quotes, binds and endorsements and other service requests within company guidelines.
  • Operate within written individual line of authority and make referrals to Management as required.
  • Obtain facultative reinsurance placements as required per company guidelines.
  • Review loss control and proactively work with agents to improve quality of risk by obtaining compliance.
  • Provide professional, timely and courteous internal and external communication to successfully resolve issues pertaining to policyholders and territory producers.
  • Participate in developing, managing and maintaining outside client relationships. Includes occasional travel or virtual meetings with agents to deepen business relationships.
  • Keep peers and Territory Management informed of all issues and activity and communicate any competitive information.
  • Participate in underwriting related focus groups for product enhancements as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • CPCU or CIC designation desired, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial line property and casualty experience.
  • Technical and analytical experience with BOP, Commercial Package, Commercial Auto and Umbrella insurance coverage and risk selection and pricing.
  • Experience with ISO based classifications and use of Reference Connect preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data and make an informed, calculated risk decision.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional business relationships internally and externally.

The expected salary range for this role is $87,600-$130,000/year.
