Full Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Transportation Planning Specialist, who will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a compliance and monitoring program focused on transportation demand management (TDM) plans for development sites.  The successful candidate will have an interest in transportation demand management (TDM), multimodal transportation systems, and the land use development process, with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Transportation planning and policy, addressing issues related to metropolitan, municipal, and/or corridor planning.

  • TDM programs and strategies to encourage use of transit, carpooling, vanpooling, biking, walking, and other alternatives to driving alone.

  • Land use planning processes, including zoning compliance, the development review process, and permitting.

  • Transportation data analysis, data management, and performance and commitment tracking of TDM requirements.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay abreast of development cycles, approvals, and construction activities and track the schedules, documentation, and TDM needs associated with those processes.

  • Track development cycles and coordinate with clients, developers, and project teams to support implementation of TDM infrastructure and related zoning compliance requirements.

  • Conduct and report on TDM monitoring and compliance activities.

  • Maintain accurate records, data systems, and compliance documentation.

  • Ensure high quality materials such as reports, white papers, presentations, and briefs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, transportation planning, environmental studies, public policy, or a similar field.

  • A minimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience in urban planning, zoning compliance or related disciplines, or development-focused TDM. 

  • Experience in managing and maintaining databases, including performing data entry, format updates and generating reports.

Desired Professional Skills

  • Experience and knowledge of principles of transportation demand management, urban planning and transit-oriented development.

  • Experience with monitoring and compliance processes.

  • Experience in successfully managing a team to produce high-quality deliverables in a timely fashion.

  • Demonstrated skill and experience with successfully managing projects or staff that require coordination across multiple contractors, departments and/or disciplines.

  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and ensure accuracy in deliverables

Preferred Experience

  • SQL or Python experience, GIS skills, familiarity with CRM systems, such as Salesforce ad Azure, and experience designing and updating data dashboards in PowerBI and Tableau.

  • Staff management experience, including experience managing staff and projects to produce  high-quality deliverables in a timely manner.

  • Experience with TDM site plan development, monitoring, or compliance.

  • AICP or LEED AP.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$98,187.00 - $166,919.00
