If you are a team player with a passion to drive your career in Construction Inspection, Popli Design Group (PDG) is the place for you! PDG is seeking a Senior Transportation Construction Inspector - NICET III to add to our growing and talented team.

We are actively searching for highly skilled and accomplished candidates who are passionate about taking the lead in overseeing a team of inspectors for conducting Construction Inspection activities on a diverse range of transportation projects. Our company undertakes construction projects across various regions throughout the state, offering detailed inspection reviews and comprehensive QC/QA overviews. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and guiding the team, ensuring accurate and detailed on-site material testing, and providing essential support activities as required. Duties encompass conducting precise field measurements, collecting data for daily work reports, and proficiently preparing quantity calculations necessary for generating precise progress payment estimates. As a senior inspector, you will play a vital role in fostering effective communication between contractor foremen and the Chief Inspector or Resident Engineer, acting as a knowledgeable liaison.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of junior inspectors working to Inspect progress of basic construction operations (Earthwork, Pavement, Structural components, Bridges, Culverts, Scaffolding...)
  • Verify conformance of material with Standard Specifications by confirming results of field tests (Concrete, compaction...)
  • Interpret documented characteristics of objects and materials used in construction and recommend course(s) of action to Chief inspector for approval.
  • Read, understand and interpret contract plans, project documents and schedules to assign inspection personnel.
  • Recognize unsafe construction procedures and site conditions.
  • Inspect erosion control and other devices/methods used to protect environmental features and utilities.
  • Document work performed, quantities, and testing and acceptance of work materials.


Requirements

Experience, Education, and Certification
  • Prior experience with transportation construction type work (highway, bridge and culvert)
  • Prior experience on projects with agencies such as NYSDOT and NYSTA
  • Associates Degree (in Civil Engineering/Technology) - With verified field experience and certifications (NICET)
  • Bachelor Degree (in Civil Engineering/Technology) is a plus
  • A Valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required.

Work Environment
  • Construction Project Site(s) and Field offices. Daily travel to job sites required.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and move average weights (15 lb.).
  • Ability to stand / walk on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work on elevated surfaces / platforms.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
