Labcorp is seeking a Senior Cytogenetic Technologist to join our team in Santa Fe, NM. Work Schedules: Sunday - Thursday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and/or Tuesday - Saturday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Training Schedule: 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
This role comes with a $1,000 sign-on bonusTechnical Responsibilities: - Perform scanning, microscope analysis and imaging of chromosomes.
- Complete all rotations in a particular laboratory including karyotyping of cytogenetics specimens, culture, harvest, banding of slide, scanning and analysis.
- Routine and complex FISH hybridization analysis.
- Summarize test results utilizing ISCN nomenclature.
- Review test requisition to gather pertinent details for the analysis.
- Distinguish between normal and abnormal test results.
- Troubleshoot and work on improving lab procedures.
- Independently perform laboratory tasks.
- Perform independent projects as directed for development of new technologies or procedures.
- Train technicians and technologists in lab procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by lab supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- 5 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
Preferred Qualification:- Current or prior Labcorp experience
- ASCP in Cytogenetics or AMT certification
Additional Job Standards- Education must be from an accredited US University
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
