  • Mentor Associates and Interns and review their work for accuracy.
  • Collaborate with senior team members to streamline workflow.

Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Associate to join our team. This role will focus on the preparation of tax returns for professional services clients, as well as high-net-worth individuals, families, and related entities.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical tax knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and experience working with clients who have complex compensation structures, practice ownership interests, K-1 income, and multi-entity planning considerations. This individual will work closely with Supervisors, Managers, and Directors to deliver high-quality client service while continuing to develop technical expertise and client relationship skills.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Assist in serving as the day-to-day contact for clients and support the development of strong client relationships.
  • Support tax planning and advisory services for:
    • S Corporations
    • High-Net-Worth Individuals and Families
    • Trusts & Estates
    • Partnerships and pass-through entity owners

  • Deliver responsive, high-quality client service and communicate effectively with clients and internal teams.


Tax Compliance & Technical Expertise

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, including:
    • 1040 (Individual)
    • 1041 (Trusts & Estates)
    • 1065 and 1120-S related to partnerships and S corporations
    • 709 (Gift Tax)
    • Related entities such as management companies, holding companies, and investment partnerships

  • Assist with matters such as:

    • Multi-state income tax issues
    • Retirement plan strategies
    • Buy-in/buy-out structures
    • Partner compensation models
    • K-1 allocation issues
    • Entity structuring and conversion strategies

  • Perform tax research and prepare technical memoranda related to tax matters.
  • Stay current on tax law developments and industry trends.


Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor and support Associates and Interns on client engagements.
  • Start to review workpapers and tax returns prepared by Associates and Interns for accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors, Managers, and Directors on engagement workflow and deliverables.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support knowledge-sharing within the practice.


Project & Engagement Management

  • Manage multiple engagements simultaneously while ensuring timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Assist with managing client expectations and meeting engagement deadlines.
  • Maintain strong organization and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.


Qualifications

  • Must be able to work in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university required.
  • MST a plus.
  • Active CPA license, EA certification, or progress toward certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting required.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience preparing and reviewing individual, partnership, S corporation, trust, gift tax, and investment partnership returns.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and tax research platforms (e.g., CCH, BNA, RIA).
  • Knowledge of CCH Axcess preferred.
  • Experience with multi-entity and multi-state taxation issues.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience performing, documenting, and summarizing tax research conclusions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build strong professional relationships.
