SUMMARY 

The Sr. Systems Administrator I is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining core infrastructure services critical to enterprise operations. This role provides technical leadership across virtualization platforms, artificial intelligence (AI), identity systems, cloud environments, and enterprise collaboration services. The administrator ensures high availability/business continuity, security, scalability, and operational excellence for all enterprise systems at CAE USA. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Administering, maintenance, monitoring, reporting, and support of all operating systems (guest OS and Hypervisor), applications, and services while focusing on best practices, SLA, redundancy, high availability, and disaster recovery. 
  • Perform routine problem analysis, troubleshoot complex issues, and resolution design for systems and applications. 
  • Perform actions of a technical leader in the design, planning, installation, and support effort for computer systems, network hardware, software applications, cloud platforms, and peripherals. 
  • Support critical business-driven initiative with active involvement in planning and system design. 
  • Champion business and digital transformation across all business units for early adoption of new technologies and initiatives (AI, Identity Federation, hybrid-cloud, etc.) 
  • Exercises independent judgment in overall delivery of IT projects.  This includes planning, scheduling, organizing, controlling, reporting, and monitoring. 
  • Effectively use Help Desk ticketing system for incident and problem management, customer interaction and follow-up. 
  • Create and maintain System Configuration, Standard Operating Procedures, runbooks, and architecture diagrams documentation to describe the overall IT platform using industry best practices and security-first designs. 
  • Maintain reports regarding system downtime, plans for preventative maintenance, and disaster recovery. 
  • Active contribution towards cross-training initiative and task/role planning with leadership with a focus on creating growth and education opportunities for junior staff members. 
  • Assist with management of Active Directory, Group Policies, Users and Computers. 
  • Provide Tier-3 escalation support and properly prioritize, coordinate, and escalate unresolved issues or emergencies to other support tiers/teams in accordance with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans.   
  • Liaises with end-users, management, and other systems departments for resolution of IT support issues. 
  • Participate in on-call rotation for production system support and support change management processes. 
  • Provide shift-based continuous monitoring of compute (on-premises, remote, and cloud), platforms, and storage performance providing support for a global network infrastructure. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer related curriculum and 5 years networking and operating system experience, or AA degree and 6+ years in networking and operating system design, test, and maintenance or equivalent related experience. 
  • Experience managing/implementing VPS Windows and Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Alma Linux, Rocky, Ubuntu) server technologies (on-premises and cloud preferred). 
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, DFS, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management. 
  • Experience managing, implementing, and supporting the following:  
  • Microsoft Office 365/Azure (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, InTune, Purview, Copilot Studios/Microsoft Foundry, BLOB storage, NSG, Azure Firewall, Conditional Access Policies, etc.) 
  • Hypervisor Technologies (Broadcom/VMware, Hyper-V, Azure Local, etc.) 
  • Virtual Desktop Technologies (Azure Virtual Desktop, Omnissa Horizon, Citrix Virtual Desktop)  
  • Database technologies (Microsoft SQL, Postgres, mySQL, etc.) 
  • Web Servers (IIS, Apache/Tomcat, Nginx, etc.) 
  • Mail Security Gateways (IronPort, ProofPoint, Exchange Online Protection, etc.) 
  • Identity Management and Federation Services (Microsoft ADFS/Entra, Identity Federation, Cisco DUO, etc.) 
  • Platform Configuration/Monitoring (PRTG, SolarWinds, Nagios) 
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and related network services (i.e. DNS, ARP, vLANs, SMTP, DHCP, Load-Balancers, etc.) 
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work in a team environment. 
  • Must have well refined troubleshooting skills, ability to determine the root cause of a problem and identify and resolve systemic problems. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, while effectively focusing on priority issues. 
  • Ability to create, document, and follow processes and procedures. 
  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance. 
  • Incumbent must hold one or more of the following: VMware Certified Professional (VCP), CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CISSP. 

 

PREFERRED SKILLS 

  • Experience with SAN, NAS, Virtual Storage and Backup technologies (Nimble, Veeam, vSAN, and/or DataDomain). 
  • Administration of Copilot licensing usage and deployment/management of Copilot Studio based AI apps/bots. 
  • Administration experience on Microsoft Enterprise CA – Cert Requests/Monitoring 
  • Administration Azure Local stack (Compute/Storage/Networking, Amazon Kubernetes Services, Azure Virtual Desktop). 
  • Administration experience for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Platforms and Federation Services (ADFS/SAML, Duo, Entra, etc.) 
  • Administration experience managing/implementing an Enterprise Backup Solution and data replication strategies. 
  • Microsoft PowerShell Scripting for Server/Platform management. 
  • Hold a Microsoft Associate, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or similar level certifications 

  

SECURITY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.  

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance. 

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.  

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility. 
  • Must be able to work overtime, on and off-shifts as required. 
  • The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues.
