Description

GPI is seeking a hands-on Senior Systems Administrator to support technology operations across our New England branch, serving nearly 200 employees across multiple office locations. This experienced IT professional will remain actively involved in day-to-day technical support, infrastructure maintenance, and problem resolution while providing technical leadership and coordination for local IT staff. The position requires regular travel to GPI's offices in Wilmington, MA; Salem, NH; Bedford, NH; Boston, MA; and Portsmouth, NH.

This role is best suited for someone who can combine strong technical expertise with practical coordination, partner closely with branch leadership and corporate IT resources, and help ensure employees have reliable, secure, and efficient technology solutions. This role works closely with GPI's corporate IT teams, which manage many of the company's enterprise platforms and services. The Senior Systems Administrator serves as the senior technical lead for the New England branch while partnering with corporate teams to support and enhance those systems. Core Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate day-to-day IT operations across GPI's New England branch, helping ensure reliable systems and consistent support.
  • Provide technical guidance to local IT staff, assist with work prioritization, and serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support infrastructure, security systems, and end-user technology.
  • Support system availability, backups, disaster recovery, security, and technology lifecycle management.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and support procedures.
  • Plan and implement technology upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and other business initiatives.
  • Evaluate new technologies, automation opportunities, and process improvements that enhance reliability, security, and user experience.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive, hands-on IT experience.
  • Experience supporting server infrastructure, networking, storage, security, backup systems, and end-user technology.
  • Experience working with Microsoft-based environments, including Active Directory, Microsoft 365, cloud services, endpoint management, and related technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of results, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical employees.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving business and security needs.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting distributed, multi-office environments.
  • Experience leading infrastructure projects, technology upgrades, office expansions, or relocations.
  • Experience providing technical guidance and coordinating or delegating the work of other IT staff.
  • Familiarity with modern Microsoft cloud, security, endpoint management, automation, and AI-enabled business tools, such as Microsoft Copilot.
  • Relevant Microsoft, Azure, or security certifications.


Requirements

  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
