Summary:
Defense Acquisition Support Services (DAS) is seeking an experienced Senior System Administrator to support mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) operations at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Windows and/or Unix system administration, server management, network operations, and information security.
This position requires a detail-oriented IT professional capable of maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing computer systems and network infrastructure while ensuring system reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
This is a full-time, onsite position at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
Responsibilities:
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and/or Unix servers, operating systems, and network infrastructure.
Perform system administration, maintenance, upgrades, and technical support to ensure optimal system performance and availability.
Monitor system configurations, server event logs, and network performance to identify and resolve technical issues.
Provide hardware and software support for desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.
Configure hardware devices, install and test software applications, and support network infrastructure requirements.
Perform functional and technical analysis of software systems to identify performance issues and recommend improvements.
Apply knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols, information security, and system authorization requirements.
Test and evaluate operating systems, networking software, and computer hardware to ensure functionality and compatibility.
Develop, implement, and monitor server backup procedures to support data protection and system recovery.
Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and network issues to minimize downtime and maintain mission readiness.
Maintain accurate system documentation, configuration records, and standard operating procedures.
Collaborate with technical teams and government stakeholders to support operational requirements and resolve system-related challenges.
Requirements:
Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience within the past eight (8) years in system administration, network administration, or related IT operations.
Experience administering Windows and/or Unix operating systems and network environments.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking protocols and information security principles.
Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, maintaining, and troubleshooting servers.
Experience supporting desktop and laptop computers, printers, and associated hardware and software.
Knowledge of system monitoring, event logs, server backups, and recovery procedures.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a mission-focused environment.
