Position - Senior Structural Inspector
Technical Responsibilities:
- Perform field inspections of structural and bridge construction/rehabilitation work.
- Inspect structural steel, concrete, reinforcing steel, welding, bolting, and related construction activities.
- Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, and approved materials.
- Monitor contractor operations for compliance with NYCDOT requirements.
- Document daily activities, quantities, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
- Prepare daily inspection reports and photographic documentation.
- Coordinate with the Resident Engineer, Project Manager, contractors, and other inspectors.
- Identify construction issues and communicate deficiencies to the project team.
- Perform field measurements and verify completed work.
- Work safely around active roadways, bridges, elevated structures, and construction equipment.
Requirements
Education and Professional Licenses/Registrations:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related
- 5+ years of structural/bridge construction inspection experience.
- Experience with bridge rehabilitation, structural steel, or transportation infrastructure projects.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Knowledge of structural steel inspection, concrete inspection, welding, and high-strength bolting.
- Ability to work independently in the field and maintain accurate inspection records.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors and at heights.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical ability to perform field inspections
- The ability to perform inspections without undue fear of heights
- Able to use fall protection
- Climbing, reaching, bending, kneeling, reaching above head
- Good sense of balance
- OSHA10 or OSHA30 preferred
Salary Description
$60 - $70 per hour
