Senior Structural Bridge Engineer - Any DJ&A Office LocationDJ&A is seeking a full-time Senior Structural Bridge Engineer with 15+ years of progressive experience in bridge design, structural analysis, inspection, load rating, rehabilitation, and quality review. The successful candidate will bring advanced technical expertise in modern bridge design codes, strong judgment in developing practical and constructible solutions, and the ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams across DJ&A's offices.
Technical Leadership ResponsibilitiesProvides senior-level technical direction, mentorship, and quality review for bridge and structural engineering staff.
Primary Expectations, but not limited to:Structural Bridge Engineering:- Serve as a senior technical resource for bridge design, rehabilitation, replacement, inspection, load rating, and structural assessment projects.
- Lead and perform complex structural analysis and design for vehicular, pedestrian, and low-volume bridges using steel, prestressed concrete, reinforced concrete, timber, and modular bridge systems.
- Develop and review structural calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, inspection reports, load rating packages, and construction phase submittals.
- Apply advanced knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, bridge inspection requirements, load rating procedures, agency standards, and applicable state and federal design criteria.
- Coordinate structural design with roadway, hydraulics, geotechnical, survey, environmental, and construction teams to develop practical, cost-effective, and constructible bridge solutions.
- Provide Engineer of Record, technical reviewer, or senior advisor support for bridge and structural deliverables, as appropriate based on licensure and project needs.
- Support bridge type selection, alternative evaluations, constructability reviews, value engineering, and risk identification for new and existing bridge structures.
- Perform or oversee field assessments, bridge inspections, condition evaluations, and construction observation activities, as needed.
- Implement DJ&A's QA/QC procedures and contribute to consistent delivery of high-quality structural engineering work products.
- Mentor structural engineers and designers by providing technical guidance, design review feedback, and support for professional growth.

- Ability to use and review work prepared in structural design and modeling software and provide mentorship to junior and mid-level staff.
Required Qualifications:- B.S. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structures.15+ years of related structural bridge engineering experience
- Professional Engineer Registration (P.E.)
- 15+ years of related structural bridge engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:- M.S. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structures
- Experience serving as Engineer of Record, technical lead, senior reviewer, or QA/QC reviewer for bridge design, inspection, rehabilitation, or load rating projects.
- Structural Engineer Registration (S.E.)
- NBIS bridge inspection qualifications, bridge inspection team leader experience, and/or load rating experience.
- Experience developing bridge type studies, rehabilitation recommendations, construction support responses, and practical design solutions for complex or constrained sites.
- Bridge project experience with federal, state, municipal, Tribal, or local public agencies.
- Experience with bridge projects in remote, rural, mountainous, environmentally sensitive, or otherwise challenging site conditions.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local bridge design standards, specifications, and construction documentation requirements.
- Experience with structural analysis/design tools and production platforms such as MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenBridge, BrR, LEAP, Mathcad, BRASS, or similar software.
