The Opportunity:This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bridge engineer who enjoys leading projects from concept through construction while mentoring junior staff and building strong client relationships. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering municipal and provincial bridge infrastructure projects and will have the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of the structural practice.
What You'll Be Doing:- Lead and manage bridge and structural engineering projects from proposal through completion, ensuring projects are delivered on scope, schedule, and budget.
- Manage project budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure overall project success.
- Coordinate and lead multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, designers, and subconsultants.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service.
- Monitor project progress and prepare reports on schedules, budgets, risks, and project milestones.
- Provide senior technical leadership for the design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other transportation structures.
- Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders throughout project delivery.
- Oversee project documentation, invoicing, and contract administration activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, promoting technical excellence and professional development.
- Support business development initiatives by assisting with proposals, client relationships, and identifying new project opportunities.
What You'll Need to Be Successful:- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
- 7-10+ years of experience in bridge and structural engineering within a consulting environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing municipal and/or provincial transportation infrastructure projects.
- Extensive experience designing bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other transportation structures.
- Experience preparing detailed design packages, contract documents, and tender documentation.
- Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6), the MTO Structural Rehabilitation Manual, and applicable Ontario design standards.
- Experience delivering projects for the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), municipalities, or other public-sector clients.
- Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, MIDAS Civil, or similar engineering software.
- Strong project management, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build lasting client relationships.
Compensation Range: $100,000 - $130,000
