Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Senior Structural / Bridge Engineer to join the Transportation team in Tampa, Florida. We seek a team player who desires a highly collaborative work environment, has excellent client and communication skills, and strong design capabilities. We seek a candidate with expertise with Transportation structures, including bridges, transportation related miscellaneous structures, and other structural elements such as seawalls and pedestrian structures.

This role offers the opportunity to work on evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering systems or products for a project. A Senior Structural Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which may include development of construction plans, specifications, cost estimate, engineering reports and studies for infrastructure projects, including bridges, transportation related structures, and other structural elements.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Select and apply appropriate design criteria to perform minor bridge design and load rating assignments.
  • Prepares engineering project documents, such as design calculations, pertaining to specific projects.
  • Prepare high quality contract documents (plans, specifications, and estimates) for the construction of structures such as bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, signal/sign structures or pedestrian structures.
  • Perform field inspections and condition assessments.
  • Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
  • Utilizes relevant software packages to perform structural design and analysis (STAAD, Leap Bridge, MathCAD, and spreadsheets).
  • Utilizes relevant software programs to prepare working and final drawings in accordance with client standards (MicroStation, AutoCAD).

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team.
  • Working knowledge of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions and developing jurisdictional experience and contacts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
  • Developing ability to effectively discuss project issues.
  • Communicate effectively with clients.
  • Proficient in MicroStation, AutoCAD, and MathCAD is expected.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering or a related degree.
  • Master of Science (BS) degree in Structural Engineering or a related degree (preferred)
  • Professional Engineering license in Florida, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 10+ years related experience in Transportation roadway, structures, and bridge design and analysis.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
