Location: Bristol, UK - Semtech Bristol Design Centre (St James Court B, Great Park Road, Bristol BS32 4QJ, United Kingdom)

Job Summary

As Senior Staff Product Engineer - Lifecycle Engineering, you will take ownership of sustaining engineering activities across mature, high-volume semiconductor products.

You will lead technical initiatives that improve yield, optimise test performance, resolve complex production challenges, and enhance manufacturing stability across the full product lifecycle.

This is a highly visible, hands-on engineering role where data-driven decision making, structured problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration directly contribute to engineering excellence and business performance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead yield improvement and margin optimisation initiatives across internal manufacturing sites and external suppliers (20%)
  • Own lifecycle engineering from production ramp through to end-of-life management, ensuring ongoing product health and stability (20%)
  • Investigate and resolve critical production issues impacting quality, yield, or test performance using structured methodologies such as 8D and CAPA (20%)
  • Partner with Test, Design, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to embed manufacturability, cost efficiency, and test optimisation into lifecycle activities (20%)
  • Apply statistical data analysis and continuous improvement practices to identify optimisation opportunities and influence data-driven engineering decisions (20%)


Minimum Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5-8 years of experience in semiconductor product, test, or design engineering, ideally within sustaining or lifecycle roles
  • Strong experience in yield analysis, margin improvement, and cross-functional technical problem solving
  • Familiarity with ATE platforms such as Advantest or Teradyne, or equivalent bench test environments
  • Experience with statistical process control, data analysis, and design of experiments
  • Fluent professional English (written and spoken)


Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working across global manufacturing sites and supplier networks
  • Proficiency with tools such as Excel, JMP, Galaxy, dataConductor, or similar analysis platforms
  • Exposure to high-speed serial interfaces, video/datacom systems, or JEDEC/Mil quality standards
  • Strong documentation discipline and structured engineering approach
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced production environments with competing priorities
