Senior Staff Accountant / General Ledger Accountant
Chicago, Illinois | On-site | Full-Time | Direct Hire | Senior LevelMaxIT Consulting - Max Corporate Group is looking for a Senior Accountant to join an established, US-based furniture manufacturing company in Chicago, Illinois.
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will run the complete accounting cycle hands-on in a small, lean finance team: general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, payables, receivables and financial reporting.
THE CHALLENGEIn a small manufacturing company the accounting team is only a few people, so the business needs an accountant who can personally execute every step of the process, not just oversee others. Accurate books, a clean and timely close and clear numbers for the CFO depend on this role.
This is a fully on-site position with no remote or off-site work, close to the operation and with direct impact on the monthly financial results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Help prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement and cash flow).
- Maintain an accurate general ledger: review, post and adjust entries, and support the month-end close.
- Perform GL and bank reconciliations and reconcile other financial accounts.
- Support budgets and forecasts and analyze variances between forecast and actual results.
- Support internal and external audits with documentation and responses to auditor requests.
- Process accounts payable with a 3-way match, resolve vendor discrepancies, maintain vendor data and run the weekly check run.
- Handle accounts receivable: post cash receipts and checks, reconcile credit card transactions, resolve customer discrepancies and follow up on past-due accounts.
- Use the company's accounting software and ERP to manage financial data and reporting.
- Work with other departments to support business objectives and special projects.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR- 5 to 10 years of hands-on accounting experience, executing the full accounting cycle end to end.
- Career experience predominantly in manufacturing companies (little or no background in public accounting, nonprofits or service companies).
- Experience in small companies with lean accounting teams (fewer than three people).
- Hands-on experience with accounting software and ERP systems; MAS 90 / Sage 100 strongly preferred.
- Stable career history, with at least one employer of 3 to 5 or more years of continuous service.
- Strong attention to detail, organization and the ability to handle confidential information.
- Must live within approximately 45 minutes of the Chicago (60632) worksite.
NICE TO HAVE- Experience with Crystal Reports.
