Full Job Description
Sony Music's Product Design Engineering and Global Operations (PDEGO) team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Data Operations to own the reliability, observability, and operational health of our data platform.
What you'll do:
  • Build and maintain monitoring systems, alerting pipelines, and health dashboards that give the team real-time visibility into platform status
  • Take an active role in production incident response - help triage, contribute to resolution, communicate clearly to stakeholders, and document post-mortems
  • Identify and build automation for repetitive operational work - access requests, backfill coordination, and pipeline health checks - to improve team throughput over time
  • Work on Snowflake infrastructure through Terraform - contributing to access controls, cost monitoring, and warehouse configuration
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering on system design and code reviews with reliability and operability in mind
  • Write and maintain runbooks, incident response playbooks, and platform documentation
  • Support analyst enablement by improving platform reliability, query performance, and data accessibility across global teams
  • Suggest and implement improvements to team tooling, processes, and operational practices
Who you are:
  • 6-8+ years in software engineering with meaningful experience in SRE, platform engineering, or data infrastructure roles
  • Proven record of contributing to production incident response, including stakeholder communication and post-incident analysis
  • Deep understanding of monitoring and observability: alerting design, SLO definition, dashboards, and root cause analysis across distributed systems
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake or equivalent data warehouse at an operational level - access management, cost governance, performance tuning
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code; Terraform experience strongly preferred
  • Strong debugging skills across cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and distributed systems
  • Familiarity with data pipeline tooling (Fivetran, dbt, Airflow, or equivalent)
  • AWS experience preferred
  • Clear, proactive communicator - comfortable translating technical incidents to business and analyst stakeholders without jargon
  • Motivated to reduce toil through automation and scalable process - not just absorb operational load, but systematically eliminate it
  • Interested in music and learning the intricacies of the music business
