Full Job Description
Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Platform

Location: Worthing, SD Department: Engineering Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Platforms to lead the design, development, and operation of distributed systems and cloud-native services using C#, .NET, and Microsoft Azure. This is a senior individual contributor role - you'll own architecture and technical direction for production systems at enterprise scale, stay hands-on with code and operations, and help set the bar for engineering practice across the team.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the design, implementation, and long-term evolution of backend services, APIs, and distributed application components using C# and .NET
  • Own technical design for complex systems - service boundaries, data flow, resiliency patterns, fault tolerance, scalability, and performance
  • Architect and deliver cloud solutions in Microsoft Azure, using platform services, messaging, storage, identity, monitoring, and automation appropriate for enterprise-scale systems
  • Drive engineering quality through code reviews, design reviews, technical standards, and testing strategy
  • Partner with product, program, QA, and engineering peers to turn business requirements into robust technical solutions
  • Lead root-cause analysis on complex production issues across application, infrastructure, and data layers
  • Improve reliability and operational maturity through observability, alerting, automation, and incident response
  • Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines, release processes, and developer workflows
  • Mentor engineers through technical guidance and design feedback, helping raise the engineering bar across the team
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps, platform modernization efforts, and long-term architectural decisions

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field - or equivalent practical experience
  • 6+ years of professional experience building and operating production-grade systems
  • Deep proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem, including modern application architecture, asynchronous programming, dependency injection, and service-oriented design
  • Strong hands-on experience designing, building, deploying, and supporting applications or services in Microsoft Azure
  • Demonstrated experience designing scalable REST APIs, service integrations, and distributed systems with attention to reliability, security, and maintainability
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, query optimization, and ORM frameworks such as Entity Framework or Entity Framework Core
  • Experience with CI/CD, source control, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices
  • Comfort using AI-assisted development tools to improve design, coding, testing, and documentation without sacrificing code quality or judgment
  • Experience leading technical design discussions and making architectural tradeoff decisions across multiple services
  • Strong debugging, performance tuning, and production support skills across application and cloud environments
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering and non-engineering stakeholders

Nice to Have
  • Experience with ASP.NET Core, microservices, event-driven systems, background processing, and enterprise integration patterns
  • Hands-on experience with Azure services such as App Service, Functions, Azure SQL, Service Bus, Storage Accounts, Key Vault, Application Insights, Monitor, and Entra ID
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, environment automation, configuration management, and secure deployment practices
  • Strong understanding of observability, distributed tracing, caching, messaging patterns, and performance engineering
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications or migrating workloads to cloud-native architectures
  • A track record of mentoring engineers and shaping coding standards across teams
  • Microsoft Azure certifications or equivalent cloud architecture experience

Why Puck
  • Competitive pay and benefits, including health, dental and vision
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • A family-owned company where your work directly shapes machines used in the field - not just a slide deck.
