About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Platforms to lead the design, development, and operation of distributed systems and cloud-native services using C#, .NET, and Microsoft Azure. This is a senior individual contributor role - you'll own architecture and technical direction for production systems at enterprise scale, stay hands-on with code and operations, and help set the bar for engineering practice across the team.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design, implementation, and long-term evolution of backend services, APIs, and distributed application components using C# and .NET
- Own technical design for complex systems - service boundaries, data flow, resiliency patterns, fault tolerance, scalability, and performance
- Architect and deliver cloud solutions in Microsoft Azure, using platform services, messaging, storage, identity, monitoring, and automation appropriate for enterprise-scale systems
- Drive engineering quality through code reviews, design reviews, technical standards, and testing strategy
- Partner with product, program, QA, and engineering peers to turn business requirements into robust technical solutions
- Lead root-cause analysis on complex production issues across application, infrastructure, and data layers
- Improve reliability and operational maturity through observability, alerting, automation, and incident response
- Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines, release processes, and developer workflows
- Mentor engineers through technical guidance and design feedback, helping raise the engineering bar across the team
- Contribute to technical roadmaps, platform modernization efforts, and long-term architectural decisions
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field - or equivalent practical experience
- 6+ years of professional experience building and operating production-grade systems
- Deep proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem, including modern application architecture, asynchronous programming, dependency injection, and service-oriented design
- Strong hands-on experience designing, building, deploying, and supporting applications or services in Microsoft Azure
- Demonstrated experience designing scalable REST APIs, service integrations, and distributed systems with attention to reliability, security, and maintainability
- Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, query optimization, and ORM frameworks such as Entity Framework or Entity Framework Core
- Experience with CI/CD, source control, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices
- Comfort using AI-assisted development tools to improve design, coding, testing, and documentation without sacrificing code quality or judgment
- Experience leading technical design discussions and making architectural tradeoff decisions across multiple services
- Strong debugging, performance tuning, and production support skills across application and cloud environments
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering and non-engineering stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Experience with ASP.NET Core, microservices, event-driven systems, background processing, and enterprise integration patterns
- Hands-on experience with Azure services such as App Service, Functions, Azure SQL, Service Bus, Storage Accounts, Key Vault, Application Insights, Monitor, and Entra ID
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with infrastructure as code, environment automation, configuration management, and secure deployment practices
- Strong understanding of observability, distributed tracing, caching, messaging patterns, and performance engineering
- Experience modernizing legacy applications or migrating workloads to cloud-native architectures
- A track record of mentoring engineers and shaping coding standards across teams
- Microsoft Azure certifications or equivalent cloud architecture experience
