We're rethinking protein tools and helping thousands of researchers around the world resolve their protein analysis problems so they can reveal new insights into disease. Software is vital to our success in developing award-winning biotech instruments and enterprise LIMS platforms for the life sciences industry.
We are seeking a versatile, highly disciplined Software Engineer to drive the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of scalable web applications, data analytics workflows, and instrument control software. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including scientists, product management, and SQA—to translate complex requirements into robust, production-grade software.
This is a hybrid position based in Wallingford, CT, working three days per week onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Full-Lifecycle Execution and Delivery: Actively participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle—from technical breakdown and design through C#/.NET development, unit testing, SQA handoff, and deployment.
- Architecture & Clean Code: Isolate root causes of complex technical bugs across distributed codebases. Refactor legacy C#/.NET components into testable, clean architecture.
- Pragmatic AI & Tooling: Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLMs) to accelerate routine implementation, unit test generation, and documentation—while maintaining strict architectural oversight, code comprehension, and rigorous manual verification of all generated output.
- Pragmatic Delivery: Balance technical excellence with steady velocity—prioritizing incremental releases, practical scope management, and high-throughput execution through SQA.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with scientists, hardware engineers, and software quality assurance to resolve complex software-hardware integration challenges and streamline pipeline workflows.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure software engineering practices align with ISO-13485 regulatory frameworks and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: 4+ years of professional experience developing commercial or enterprise full-stack software applications.
- Core Tech Stack: Proficient and demonstrable hands-on experience with C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework Core, and SQL Server.
- Front-End and Services: Experience building modern web applications utilizing Blazor, RESTful APIs, and microservice architecture.
- Version Control and DevOps: Advanced proficiency with Git version control, CI/CD pipelines, and GitHub workflow tools.
- Architecture and Patterns: Solid understanding of software design patterns (MVC, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Dependency Injection).
- Execution and Operational Transparency: Proven ability to work autonomously, estimate work accurately, timebox technical tasks, and maintain proactive, real-time communication (Jira tracking, async updates, and early blocker escalation) across engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
- Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis, automation, or algorithm testing.
- Background in regulated life sciences environments (ISO-13485, GMP / 21 CFR Part 11 compliance).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerized deployments.
- Familiarity with instrument control protocols, cameras, or signal processing algorithms.
- Ability to work comfortably in a laboratory environment to test, debug, and validate software directly against hardware instruments and prototype rigs.
