Senior Software & Autonomy Integration Engineer

Job Description and Responsibilities:
The Software and Autonomy Integration Engineer will be responsible for integrating, testing, and evaluating cutting-edge autonomy software, data fusion engines, and AI/ML algorithms on uncrewed systems (UxS) in support of Special Operations Forces (SOF). This role requires a strong background in software development, data pipelines, containerization, and the full systems engineering lifecycle to ensure the successful fielding of intelligent, autonomous capabilities at the tactical edge.

Duties include but not limited to:
  • Design, develop, and implement software solutions for integrating autonomy capabilities and third-party algorithms into UxS platforms.
  • Lead the integration and testing of autonomy-focused software within a DevSecOps pipeline, utilizing tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Develop and manage APIs for seamless communication between software modules, payloads, and command-and-control systems.
  • Architect and manage data pipelines (ETL) for processing, transforming, and loading sensor data for AI/ML and data fusion applications.
  • Serve as the software and autonomy SME for the program, collaborating with government and industry partners.
  • Document, report, and present findings on software performance, reliability, and security through rigorous testing and analysis.
  • Contribute to the development of an open system architecture that is scalable and adaptable.
  • Must be willing to work onsite daily at customer or corporate locations at MacDill AFB, FL as directed.

Education:
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.
  • Relevant experience and years of service may be considered in lieu of required education.

Required Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development and systems integration.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, and Java.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements, design, test, and deployment.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and DevSecOps methodologies.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team with the skills and personality to lead discussions that result in positive desired outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance.


Preferred Experience:
  • Experience developing data pipelines and ETL processes for real-time sensor data.
  • Experience working with the Rapid Innovation Cell, PEO-SDA, SOF Common Core Architecture (SCCA), AFSOC Common Core Architecture (ACCA), and autonomy suites (e.g., FANTOM Core, Vigilant Spirit, Arbitrator, BMS Control Hub).
  • Experience working with autonomy, machine learning (ML), or artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms.
  • Familiarity with open architectures such as Open Mission Systems (OMS).
  • Experience with messaging protocols (e.g., ActiveMQ, ZeroMQ).
  • Relevant software or cloud certifications (e.g., Certified Kubernetes Application Developer, AWS Certified Developer) are a plus.


Travel: Up to 20% based on customer needs.
