Full Job Description
Division: Breast Center

Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Location: Hybrid within Greater Houston, TX

Salary Range: $79,092 - $90,000

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Summary

At the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine we study almost every aspect of breast health and disease and are focused entirely on strategies to prevent, diagnose and treat all breast cancer. We are a multidisciplinary center with an emphasis on translational research. The Center is committed to education and training of our students. Our primary goal is to advance our research mission and goals. Cross-training and transparency among the admin team is encouraged and practiced. Ideal candidate will have experience managing multiple grant portfolios, subawards, and subcontracts. Must have great attention-to-detail and ability to multi-task.

After initial training period (approximately 6 months) this role is eligible for a hybrid work schedule of 3 days onsite each week.

Employees with Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification are eligible for certification pay.

Job Duties

  • Submit and monitor grant applications and work with SPO for multiple Center grants--Breast SPORE, P01, etc (pre- and/or post-award grant management)
  • Maintain the daily, monthly, and quarterly research financial accounting activities and reports
  • Conduct financial analysis and prepare special financial reports requested by Administrator when needed
  • Manage federal, state and industry grants, contracts & subcontract submissions internally and externally
  • Serve as point of contact between the Office of Research (OOR), sponsors, PIs, collaborating institutions
  • Gather and create documents necessary for grant submission including budget, budget justification, other support, statement of work, etc and communicate timelines to faculty to ensure applications are submitted on time to central office for review and approval
  • Review and approve grant application proposals for sections assigned in the College's electronic Biomedical Research and Assurance Information Network (BRAIN)
  • Ensure compliance with all guidelines for funding purpose
  • Make recommendations for process improvement to increase efficiency and implement changes
  • Attend workshops on research administration for continued education and contribute to the development and improvement of the pre-/post- award management process
  • Complete quarterly effort reporting in ERS
  • Approve Concur submissions for assigned faculty
  • Assist in Center budget submission (Workday Adaptive)
  • Participate in monthly meetings with other research admin associates and Administrator
  • Contribute to tactical and operational, functional, and/or business plans with short-to mid-term impact on department results
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Four years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PowerBI, Workday Adaptive, Proposal Central, iLabs, BRAIN and various grant platforms
  • Must be a team player and work well within a group
