As a Senior Equipment Analyst, you will serve as a senior technical authority within Field Operations, providing advanced diagnostic expertise for reciprocating engines and compressors. You will work with sophisticated analytical technologies, travel to customer sites, interpret complex equipment data, and deliver recommendations that help customers optimize performance, reliability, and emissions compliance.

You will also play a key role in developing the next generation of Equipment Analysts through technical mentoring, training, quality review, and standardization of analytical practices.

With roots dating to 1833 and a portfolio of iconic OEM brands, Cooper-Bessemer™, Ajax™, Superior™ and more, Cooper supports over 22,000 units in the field globally. This is your opportunity to lead a key chapter of that story.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as the senior technical resource for reciprocating engine and compressor analysis, providing guidance and escalation support for complex or unresolved diagnostic issues.
  • Perform advanced equipment analysis using engine and compressor instrumentation, including condition analysis, performance evaluation, compressor valve analysis, engine balancing, and ultrasonic and FFT vibration analysis.
  • Travel to customer job sites to collect detailed diagnostic data, interpret findings, and develop comprehensive analysis reports with clear diagnostic conclusions and corrective recommendations.
  • Participate in commissioning, start-up, tuning, and optimization of new and highly modified engines, including air/fuel ratio (AFR) control system optimization.
  • Conduct portable emissions testing and support customers with corrective actions for non-attainment units, including GHG-related testing and reporting.
  • Review and approve analysis reports prior to customer submission, ensuring technical accuracy, consistency, and alignment with Cooper standards.
  • Develop and maintain standardized report-writing practices, technical documentation, and analysis methodologies for the broader Equipment Analyst team.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate the technical development of entry-level and mid-level Equipment Analysts, including delivery of formal technical training.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between Engineering, Technical Support, Sales, and customers on complex or sensitive accounts.
  • Represent Cooper during high-visibility customer engagements and provide sound technical judgment in ambiguous or high-pressure field situations.
