Position Overview: Ready to see your work make a real impact on the trains that move people every day? Siemens Mobility is looking for a
Factory Quality Engineer (FQE) who wants to be at the heart of manufacturing operations-not behind a desk. You'll work hands-on on the shop floor and partner with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Project Management to resolve nonconformances, lead structured problem solving, and put lasting corrective and preventive actions in place. If you love using data and technical know-how to spot trends, get ahead of risks, influence teams, and deliver quality improvements you can measure, this is your opportunity to grow with a global leader in rail technology.
What your day-to-day will look like: - Make an impact on the shop floor by supporting quality across manufacturing, assembly, inspection, and testing.
- Partner with Production and Manufacturing Engineering to identify, contain, investigate, and resolve product and process quality issues.
- Drive nonconforming material issues from documentation through timely closure, supporting Material Review Board (MRB) reviews and coordinating technical dispositions.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and inspection criteria to ensure requirements are understood and implemented.
- Lead root-cause analysis using 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone tools; partner with teams to implement corrective and preventive actions and verify their effectiveness.
- Turn recurring quality issues into lasting improvements that reduce rework, scrap, and Cost of Poor Quality while strengthening prevention and quality ownership.
This posting outlines the primary responsibilities of the role but is not all-inclusive; additional duties may be assigned in alignment with business needs. To thrive in this role, you have: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing/Industrial, or Quality Engineering, or a related technical field-or equivalent relevant experience-and 5-8 years of experience in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Quality, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing quality, nonconformance management, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements; use data to investigate complex manufacturing issues; and work hands-on on the factory floor while balancing production urgency with product quality.
- Strong written and verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, including explaining technical issues to varied audiences, building relationships, influencing without direct authority, and constructively challenging processes.
- An organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and persistently drive issues to resolution.
- Preferred: experience in rail, transportation, automotive, heavy equipment, or complex manufacturing; electrical and/or mechanical assembly.
Candidates should be willing to work in non-climate-controlled environments and inclement weather if required or if applicable. Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
