Overview

Longenecker & Associates (L&A), a Geosyntec Company, is a trusted partner enabling critical missions across the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) complex for more than 35 years. We contribute to DOE's nuclear security and environmental remediation enterprise by providing the highest-caliber staff and experts. We are seeking a motivated Senior Quality Engineer to contribute to our mission supporting our work at Centrus Energy in Oak Ridge, TN.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The applicant, reporting to the Quality Engineering Manager, will be responsible for establishing and maintaining inspection system in support of the production targets for components, assemblies, and machines manufactured at the Technology and Manufacturing Center in Oak Ridge, TN.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of Advanced Product Quality Planning activities including PFMEA's, Control Plans, and Measurement System Analysis
  • Leads efforts to identify opportunities for process improvements in inspection technology, techniques, data collection and sampling
  • Coach and mentor others in quality topics and activities
  • Develop inspection plans identifying required instrumentation and gaging
  • Develop process capability metrics for products and utilize statistical methods to develop and implement capability improvements and sampling frequency
  • Review procurement specifications, design specifications, fabrication procedures, maintenance work packages, and other documents for incorporation of appropriate quality controls
  • Review First Article Inspection packages
  • Lead the investigation of escapes to determine root cause and corrective action
  • Utilize products and process knowledge to develop and implement quality management system improvement opportunities
  • Lead evaluation of test equipment and precision measuring instruments
  • Manages work to ensure that deliverables are met within schedule and budget with minimum management oversite
  • Adheres to company policies, procedures, code of conduct, security, and environmental and safety program requirements


Education and Licensure

HS Diploma. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a technical field preferred.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with NQA-1 quality systems.
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance if required.
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, this position requires U.S. Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications and Location Details
  • Preference will be given to applicants currently holding an active DOE Q level security clearance
  • Centrifuge manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Proficient in GD&T
  • Demonstrated experience using Lean Six Sigma tools
  • ASQ CQE, Six Sigma, and/or Lead Auditor certification
  • Training and experience in root cause analysis
  • Experience in high-precision metal forming, machining, or finishing processes
  • Onsite position
