Job Description

DESCRIPTION:
As a Senior Quality Chemist at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will ensure product quality and regulatory compliance. You will perform analytical testing and drive continuous improvement initiatives while supporting our mission to enable customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. You will analyze raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using advanced analytical techniques and instrumentation. Your expertise will be essential in conducting investigations and providing technical leadership to team members. You will work with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues, support regulatory audits, and implement process improvements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum M.S. degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related science, with 2-5 years experience; or a B.S. degree with 5-8 years experience
  • Experience with a variety of analytical techniques utilized in chemical and/or biochemical manufacturing (HPLC, GC, FT-IR, NMR, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA)
  • Position requires the ability to work independently, to be detail-oriented and accurate
  • Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Effectively communicate with customers, regulatory representatives, and company associates

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform laboratory operations and complete documentation associated with raw material, bulk compound/formulation, intermediate and finished good testing.
  • Draft and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new procedures and equipment.
  • Interact with customers as part of product investigations and development of custom products.
  • Calibration of laboratory equipment/instruments
  • Serve on new product development teams. Specifically, work with the Technical Leader and Product Managers to develop meaningful product specifications based on process capability
  • Train new associates on procedures and techniques.
  • Support the manufacture of products consistent with company quality and customer requirements.
  • Improve processes as necessary with emphasis on safety, product quality and cost.
  • Oversee the acquisition, storage, handling, inventory and disposal of supply chemicals in accordance with company policies.
  • Organize, standardize and maintain records associated with manufacturing operations in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain an audit-ready working environment at all times.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply a new technology in a manner that leads to improved process control, cost savings and/or improved product quality.
  • Identify, communicate and drive the implementation of departmental process improvements that increase productivity and/or control cost.
  • Proven ability to lead investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Train on new laboratory techniques.
  • Maintain a consistently high level of productivity with respect to work order completion.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Illinois is $75,800.00 3$113,675.00.
