DescriptionImpulse is looking for an experienced design engineer who will contribute to the critical development of
Deneb,
an ox-rich combustion engine, that will fly on Helios, a high-energy kick stage designed to deliver satellites & payloads to high-energy orbits, the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
As a
Sr. Propulsion Design Engineer, you will own all aspects of the propulsion system and components of Deneb, from concept to product realization, while working with a fast-paced, agile team.
Responsibilities- Own all aspects of engine design from concept to product realization
- Design propulsion engine components and layout
- Generate detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings
- Perform fluid, thermal, and structural analysis as required
- Work with internal and external sources to procure materials, fabricate parts, and complete assemblies
- Resolve technical issues with innovative and resourceful solutions
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience with flight propulsion components including high-pressure, and high-performance applications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working with fluid, electrical and mechanical systems
- Proficiency in creating engineering drawings and 3D CAD models with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Demonstrated ability in requirements definition, conceptual design, procurement, fabrication, assembly and testing of hardware
Preferred Skills and Experience- Experience designing and delivering high reliability, high performance hardware
- Experience designing and manufacturing additive hardware
- Experience with in-space propulsion components
- Experience with Siemens NX
- Strong project management skills and effective communication of technical concepts across multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
Additional Information:Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
