CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Transit Services to join our multi-disciplinary and action-oriented transportation team in Virginia. This position will support the transportation team for our growing transit practice focused on bus, rail, transit infrastructure and facilities projects.

The Senior Project Manager will provide a variety of professional services to transit clients in the DMV region. They will lead tasks and provide support and guidance for bus/rail/facilities projects for a variety of client projects.

Position Summary

As a Senior Project Manager, you'll have the chance to focus on bus, rail and facilities projects in greater VA for major transit clients including Virginia Railway Express, VRPA, WMATA, Amtrak, MARC and Maryland Transit Administration. The ideal candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate and manage multi-disciplinary teams on multiple assignments.

Anticipated position responsibilities include:
• Serving as senior project manager, deputy project manager, and major task lead and collaborate with professionals on a wide variety of transit design of complex bus, rail and/or facilities projects
• Working with current staff to enhance our transit services capabilities.
• Mentoring staff and helping to expand our transit design practice in the greater VA market.
• Leading the development of project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and monitoring and controlling project performance.
• Performing Quality Control/Quality Assurance of key deliverables related to transportation projects managed by others.
• Implementing CDM Smith's quality procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assisting with marketing and business development efforts to further expand our client base and project opportunities with DMV regional transportation agencies.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree.
• 10 years of related experience.
• PMP (PMI), CCM or DBIA certification is required (within 12 months of hire or promotion onto the Approved Project Manager list).
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience serving as Project Manager for local rail and transit clients including Virginia Railway Express, VRPA, WMATA, Amtrak, MARC and Maryland Transit Administration.
  • Experience leading rail, transit, or commuter rail projects, including stations, maintenance facilities and rail yards.
  • Comfortable leading teams with different technical backgrounds, including planning, civil, track, structures, architecture, systems, environmental, construction, and project controls. #LI-SE1

Additional Pay Range Information

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
