Job description Job Type: Full-Time | Location: Sweetwater, Texas | Department: Data Center Delivery | Reporting to: Director, Network Delivery | Work Location Type: #onsite
Reporting to the Director, Network Delivery, the Senior Project Manager - Site Network Delivery is IREN's on-site owner's representative for network infrastructure on one data center campus. The role manages the low-voltage contractors installing fiber and structured cabling, drives meet-me room, entrance and network-room readiness, and makes sure the pathway, rack and power dependencies for network infrastructure are built into every building from the start. This is a field role, on site full time and embedded with the campus building teams: same coordination meetings, same look-ahead, same RFI and submittal logs as the construction project managers and superintendents. The role takes day-to-day sequencing from the campus Project Director, delivers to the standards set by Network Infrastructure Engineering, and works alongside the Senior Project Managers - Network Delivery responsible for carrier delivery to the campus. The superintendent directs the crews; this role owns what gets built and what done looks like for network scope.
Job requirements- Minimum 10 years in telecommunications, structured cabling or data center construction, with 5+ years of proven project management as an owner's representative, infrastructure technology integration manager, low-voltage project manager or construction manager on data center or mission-critical projects.
- Able to read and challenge Division 27 drawings and specifications: fiber counts, pathways, cable tray, racks, panels, labeling and testing requirements.
- Hands-on experience managing low-voltage and fiber contractors in the field: submittals, RFIs, rough-in and trim inspections, punch lists and non-conformance close-out.
- Working knowledge of fiber test acceptance: Tier 1 insertion loss, Tier 2/OTDR, polarity and end-face inspection, and how to read a test package.
- Project administration skills: RFI and submittal logs, meeting minutes, action registers, change-order packages and pay-application review.
- Executive presence and reporting: proven ability to document and communicate network risks, schedule and budget clearly and consistently to the Director, Network Delivery and the campus Project Director.
- Experience in a fast-paced growth environment; flexible approach to work hours and site-based work.
- OSHA 30.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred qualifications - network and telecommunications
- Inside-plant and campus backbone: MMR fit-out, MDF/IDF, pathways and cable tray, structured cabling (fiber and copper), cross-connects, patch panels and labeling standards.
- Carrier interface on site: entrance conduit and handholes, carrier rack space and power, splice and test acceptance, service turn-up support.
- Operational technology networks: pathway and cabling dependencies for BMS, EPMS, fire and life-safety monitoring, security, CCTV, access control and Wi-Fi.
- Infrastructure records: capturing rack, panel, port and cable data during construction for NetBox or other DCIM platforms.
- High-fiber-count trunk installation and splicing in data halls.
Also highly regarded
- BICSI Technician or RCDD, FOA CFOT or equivalent credentials.
- PM certification (PMP or equivalent) highly regarded but not required.
- Experience on direct-to-subcontractor (multi-prime) delivery as well as GC-led delivery.
- Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, SAP and Primavera P6.
Other important requirements
- A clear criminal record check is required.
- Must provide own steel-toed work boots; all other PPE is supplied.
- Must be able to reliably commute to the project site daily or have plans to relocate before starting work.
- IREN operates across multiple countries and time zones; a flexible approach to work hours is required, with travel to other IREN sites as needed.
Job responsibilities Low-voltage contractor management
- Act as the single IREN voice to the low-voltage and fiber contractors on scope, specification and acceptance for the campus; the superintendent remains the single voice on sequencing and means and methods.
- Verify contractor work against Division 27 scope and the approved design; raise deviations as RFIs through Network Infrastructure Engineering rather than resolving them in the field.
- Review contractor submittals, material tracking and long-lead items against the schedule; recommend contractor performance actions to the Director.
Room, entrance and pathway readiness
- Drive meet-me room, entrance facility and network-room readiness: conduit and handholes, tray and pathways, racks, panels, grounding, and A/B power to carrier and network racks.
- Coordinate the pathway, rack and power dependencies for network infrastructure with the electrical, mechanical and civil trades inside each building team.
Schedule integration
- Maintain the network milestones in the campus Integrated Project Master Schedule - entrance conduit, MMR ready-for-service, pathways complete, fiber pull windows, splice and test, carrier equipment install - with the construction project manager owning the dates.
- Attend the daily and weekly building-team coordination meetings and the look-ahead; flag network dependencies before they move a building milestone.
Field execution and quality
- Conduct rough-in and trim inspections with the superintendent; verify installation, labeling and workmanship against specification.
- Review fiber test packages against the acceptance standard set by Network Infrastructure Engineering; drive non-conformance close-out and defect rectification.
- Support installation windows for network equipment and carrier gear with Network Engineering, carriers and vendors.
- Comply with IREN's Risk, QA and HSE management systems; drive for zero harm and act as a role model for a positive HSE culture on site.
Submittals, RFIs and change control
- Maintain the network RFI and submittal logs, meeting minutes and action registers for the campus.
- Prepare telecom change-order packages for the Director's approval; review pay applications for network scope before construction releases them.
Infrastructure records and handover
- Capture NetBox/DCIM source data during construction - racks, panels, ports, cables, circuits - in the format Network Infrastructure Engineering requires, with contractors contractually obligated to deliver it.
- Assemble the network handover package: as-builts, test results, labeling schedules, DCIM records and asset information; lead the joint punch and acceptance walk with construction and the handover to Operations.
Developing Project Managers
- Give day-to-day direction to any Project Manager assigned to support network scope on the campus, including performance feedback and an agreed development plan.
Reporting
- Provide concise, reliable network status for the campus to the Director, Network Delivery and the campus Project Director in the weekly campus network review.
- Escalate issues on site first with the superintendent, then to the construction project manager and the Director, with a recommendation.
