POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Project Manager plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the successful delivery of complex, high-value projects for our corporate clients throughout the US and Canada. This is a senior-level position intended for an accomplished project management professional with extensive industry knowledge, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to independently lead projects from planning through execution and closeout.

The successful candidate will bring significant project and business leadership experience, while remaining actively involved in project execution. They will serve as a senior resource to the Project Management team, providing leadership, guidance, problem-solving support, and mentorship while maintaining direct accountability for their assigned portfolio of projects.

This position requires someone who can confidently interact with senior client representatives, internal leadership, subcontractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams while making sound business decisions with minimal oversight.

The position is hybrid, combining work from the office, home, and active project sites. Projects typically last from one to two weeks, and travel throughout the US and Canada is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the planning, coordination, execution, and successful completion of multiple complex construction and renovation projects simultaneously.
  • Take full ownership of assigned projects from initial handoff through construction, completion, financial closeout, and lessons learned.
  • Provide senior-level oversight and strategic direction to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Archmill's quality standards.
  • Manage a significant annual project portfolio, including multiple concurrent projects across different geographic locations.
  • Develop, manage, and continuously assess project scope, schedules, budgets, forecasts, risks, and resource requirements.
  • Identify potential project, financial, scheduling, or operational risks early and develop practical mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for key clients and maintain strong relationships with client executives, representatives, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead challenging client conversations, project escalations, scope changes, schedule concerns, and commercial discussions.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Design, Pre-Construction, Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, Site Management, and other internal teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Oversee subcontractor and vendor performance and ensure contractual commitments, schedules, quality expectations, and project requirements are met.
  • Negotiate with subcontractors, suppliers, and project partners to achieve favourable commercial and operational outcomes.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, change orders, budgets, and other project documentation.
  • Review project financial performance, including costs, forecasts, change orders, commitments, margins, and potential financial exposure.
  • Provide leadership with timely visibility into significant project risks, client concerns, financial issues, or schedule impacts, along with recommended solutions.
  • Conduct and participate in project meetings, milestone reviews, site meetings, and post-project evaluations.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Project Managers and other members of the project team, sharing best practices and supporting their development.
  • Act as a senior escalation resource for complex project issues and assist other Project Managers in resolving difficult situations when required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project management processes, systems, reporting, communication, and overall project delivery.
  • Support leadership with broader departmental or business initiatives based on experience and operational knowledge.
  • Maintain a safe and professional work environment and demonstrate strong leadership in health and safety.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable local, state/provincial, and federal regulations, building codes, contractual requirements, and safety standards.
  • Perform other related duties and strategic project assignments as required.


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, Architecture, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • 10-15+ years of progressively responsible project management and construction experience, with significant experience managing complex, multi-site or high-value projects.
  • Extensive experience independently managing projects from planning through execution and closeout.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, sound judgment, and accountability, making complex project and business decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Strong experience managing senior-level client relationships, including challenging project situations and escalations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, competing priorities, tight schedules, and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including project budgets, forecasting, margins, change management, contracts, and cost control.
  • Extensive experience negotiating with and managing subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and other external partners.
  • Advanced understanding of construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
  • Experience within design-build, retail construction, millwork, QSR, restaurant, or multi-site rollout environments is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate risk, analyze complex problems, and implement practical solutions.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive accountability.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring Project Managers and other project professionals is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional client-facing, negotiation, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • PMP or another relevant project/construction management designation is considered an asset.
  • Strong work ethic, professional judgment, accountability, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering results.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 30-50% of the time throughout the US and Canada.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.

  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Required to remain standing for extended periods of time.
