Full Job Description

Your Role

In this role you will dig deep into the design details and the construction strategy of your client's projects. You will oversee the design to uncover gaps, keep costs in check, and will ensure the trade-contractors’ scopes are defined and complete. You will help your clients manage risks and maximize opportunities by representing them in the boardroom, on the construction site, and everywhere in between.

Responsibilities
  • Use your technical expertise in project planning, design and construction to resolve complex project challenges.
  • Plan and lead construction strategy meetings and make recommendations to the owner and the consultant about procurement options
  • Prepare site logistics plans, construction management plans, trade package strategies, early works plans, and sequencing options
  • Organize and coordinate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget
  • Plan and prepare construction milestones and monitor progress against established timelines
  • Receive and track construction project estimates
  • Collaborate with construction management team on contracts, revisions or additions to agreements with architects, engineers, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Your clients will trust you and rely on your knowledge, skills and expertise to achieve their community or organizational goals and objectives.
  • Understand and represent your clients’ best interests regarding project outcomes.
  • Lead your project teams with your ability to manage change, communicate and coordinate between multiple stakeholders, resolve issues, and deliver projects on time and on budget.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients and respond to new business opportunities with support from the Business Development Team, Principal or Regional Vice President.
Qualifications
  • A university degree or diploma in engineering, architecture, construction management or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience.
  • Professional Engineer designation (P. Eng) or equivalent is an asset.
  • PMP designation is a definite asset and will be supported to complete.
  • 15 years of consulting engineering experience or public sector engineering experience delivering civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural infrastructure projects for local and regional municipalities and provincial ministries.
  • Previous leadership of capital and municipal planning for horizontal infrastructure development.
  • Extensive client facing experience in the delivery of projects.
  • Practical understanding of infrastructure planning and processes.
  • The leadership skills needed to influence decisions and resolve client and project challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project).

Expected Compensation: $97,920 -$134,640 per year (CAD)

 

This compensation range represents our good-faith estimate at the time of posting, based on market benchmarks and internal equity. Final compensation will be determined considering the candidate’s skills, experience, qualifications and regional consideration. Annual bonus opportunities are in addition to base salary.
