Full Job Description

Job Description:

Parsons has been involved in improving transportation infrastructure in Canada since 1964.  With a portfolio of more than 4,500 crossings around the world, we’ve delivered landmark bridges that carry pedestrians, roads, railways, and pipelines.  We are looking for an experienced senior bridge project manager to support bridge and other structural projects in Alberta and Western Canada, with a particular focus on our growing portfolio of projects with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (TEC).  This position requires a solid track record of participation on bridge projects with TEC, and a willingness to employ a seller-doer attitude driving both successful project execution and business growth through regular client interactions.

Position Overview and Responsibilities

In this position, you will serve as a trusted advisor to TEC, balancing strong project governance with strategic business leadership. You will act as Project Manager on major bridge projects, while also overseeing and supporting other PMs delivering smaller assignments—ensuring our work is consistently executed with quality, transparency, and accountability in alignment with TEC’s consultant delivery expectations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Grow and manage Parsons’ bridge portfolio with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors, including proactive client engagement and opportunity shaping.
  • Lead proposals—developing win strategies, scopes, schedules, and resource-loaded budgets, and follow up by participating in client debriefs.
  • Ensure delivery excellence across projects: on-time/on-budget performance, risk management, change control, and fulfillment of contractual requirements.
  • Plan and confirm resourcing for both active projects and pursuits, in close coordination with Parsons’ Business Development team.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop junior staff, and act as functional manager for a small group of employees—supporting performance, growth, and career progression.
  • Represent Parsons at industry events (client mixers, workshops, and conferences).
  • Represent Parsons on the Consulting Engineers of Alberta (CEA) Transportation Committee, helping strengthen industry-owner relationships and supporting ongoing collaboration with TEC.

Preferred Experience and Additional Details

  • Extensive experience in client-facing roles on projects with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors.
  • Experience with other major Western Canadian Clients is a bonus.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully managing major bridge engineering and construction projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to support multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Willing to supervise and mentor the next generation of bridge project managers.
  • Willingness to travel within Alberta.  Occasional out-of-province travel may be required.
  • Position is available to be centered out of Edmonton or Calgary.
  • Must be registered or able to become registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of related project execution and/or program management experience in a similar or progressing role.
  • Broad general technical and business background.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • Registration as a professional engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Alberta to support client and project teams.

This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.
