Full Job Description
Senior Project EH&S Manager

This position is based out of our Charlotte, NC regional office.

As a Senior Project EH&S Manager, you're Samet's safety leader across the Charlotte region-accountable for the health and safety of every worker, trade partner, client, and member of the public on our largest and most complex job sites. You'll administer the Site Safety and Incident Prevention Program across multiple concurrent projects, serve as the senior technical resource for project teams, and hold the line on compliance and culture.

Your mission is straightforward: make sure everyone goes home safely, every single day. You'll set the standard for our safety culture, mentor the EH&S team behind you, and deliver it The Samet Way - with rigor, follow-through, and genuine care for the people behind the work.

What You'll Do
  • Provide clear, confident safety leadership across multiple assigned job sites in the region, including our largest and most complex projects.
  • Maintain rigorous compliance with OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
  • Mentor and develop EH&S Managers and Coordinators, sharing hard-earned field judgment and raising the bar across the team.
  • Train Associates and subcontractors on critical safety topics.
  • Lead safety orientations with trade partners and subcontractors that set the tone for our safety culture.
  • Facilitate meaningful safety meetings and enforce safety standards with accountability.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, accidents, and near misses.
  • Receive, review, file, and document safety submittals with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Provide expert guidance to subcontractors when they need support.
  • Serve as the go-to technical resource and trusted advisor for project teams and regional leadership.
  • Build client and internal-customer confidence by exceeding expectations, solving problems quickly, and following through on commitments.

What You Bring
  • 10+ years of safety management experience in the general construction industry.
  • Demonstrated success leading safety on large-scale and/or multiple concurrent construction projects.
  • OSHA 30-Hour and/or 500-Hour Construction Safety Training Certification.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce and trade partner community.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience mentoring or developing other safety professionals.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (preferred).
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and clear written and verbal communication.

Additional Requirements

Physical Demands: A field-intensive role with regular time on active construction sites and periodic office work. Frequently required to stand, walk (including on rough or uneven surfaces), climb stairs and ladders, bend, and wear appropriate PPE. While performing office duties, regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers to handle equipment and files, reach, talk, see, and hear. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work Environment: A combination of active construction sites in various stages of completion and a professional office environment, with noise and light levels ranging from low to high. Unpleasant or potentially harmful fumes may occasionally be present (proper PPE provided). Temperature varies by location and season. Regular travel between job sites and offices across the region is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and the ability to manage safety documentation and reporting in industry-standard construction software. Proficiency in SharePoint and the ability to collaborate via Zoom or Teams and type professional correspondence.

Reasoning Ability: Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions, regulations, plans, and specifications.

Certificates and Licenses: OSHA 30-Hour and/or 500-Hour Construction Safety Training Certification required. A valid driver's license is required. CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
