Job Summary:

The Senior Project Controls Specialist works directly with Project Managers and regional teams to drive completion of required project financial activities. This position maintains the financial operating cadence across assigned projects by monitoring billing, change management, forecasting, and other required project deliverables. The role provides hands-on support to project teams, tracks outstanding requirements through completion, and ensures required information is delivered to Accounting within established timelines.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Calendar & Deliverable Management

• Work directly with Project Managers and regional teams to manage the monthly project financial calendar and required deliverables.
• Maintain a consolidated view of outstanding project financial action items and drive items through completion.
• Prepare project teams for monthly financial reviews by confirming required operational inputs have been completed.

Billing Oversight

• Monitor client billing activity and ensure Project Managers prepare and submit billings to clients within established deadlines.
• Track billing status across assigned projects and follow up on outstanding or delayed submissions.

Change Order (CBA) Management

• Maintain the Change Budget Adjustment (CBA) log and ensure all approved change orders are captured timely.
• Track pending change orders and follow up with project teams regarding approvals and required supporting information.

Forecast Coordination

• Coordinate monthly forecasting activities with Project Managers and ensure required forecast updates are completed by established deadlines.

PM Support & Process Reinforcement

• Provide guidance and hands-on assistance to Project Managers and project teams with billing, change management, forecasting, and established financial processes.
• Reinforce standardized financial processes and reporting expectations across assigned regions.

Escalation & Coordination

• Identify missed deadlines, recurring process breakdowns, and unresolved project items and escalate as appropriate.
• Serve as the primary coordination point between project teams and Accounting for required project financial deliverables.

 

What You'll Bring

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• 3-5+ years of experience in project controls, construction finance, cost management, or project operations support.
• Experience working directly with Project Managers in a construction, infrastructure, engineering, or other project-based environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of project billing, change management, forecasting, and EAC processes.
• Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliverables.
• Strong communication skills and ability to drive accountability across cross-functional teams.
• Proactive approach with strong follow-through and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with JDE, EcoSys, or similar project systems preferred.
