Job Summary:

The Senior Project Controls Cost Analyst provides advanced cost management expertise and strategic support for large, complex industrial construction projects in the energy sector. This role leads the development of project cost control systems, forecasts, and financial performance reporting to ensure accurate project visibility and proactive cost management. The Senior Analyst serves as a key business partner to project leadership and management teams, driving data-driven decision-making, ensuring adherence to financial objectives, and mentoring junior analysts. This is an on-site role located on a project site in the Amarillo, Texas area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive cost control systems, reporting structures, and forecasting models for assigned projects.
  • Provide in-depth analysis of project cost performance, identifying trends, variances, and potential risks with recommended corrective actions.
  • Manage the preparation of project cost baselines, budgets, and change management tracking, ensuring alignment with project execution plans.
  • Perform detailed earned value analysis (EVA) and cost-to-complete projections; communicate findings and impacts to project management and corporate leadership.
  • Oversee monthly cost reporting, cash flow forecasting, and financial presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with procurement, accounting, and scheduling teams to ensure data integrity across all cost and schedule control systems.
  • Monitor subcontractor and vendor performance from a cost and productivity perspective; provide analysis to support negotiations and risk assessments.
  • Drive process improvements in cost control and reporting practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, financial controls, and client contractual requirements.
  • Mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to Project Controls Analysts and other project support staff.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for project leadership, providing insights on cost trends, forecasting methodology, and project financial health.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5-8 years of experience in project controls, cost analysis, or construction project finance within large-scale industrial or energy construction environments.
  • Experience supporting EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) or heavy industrial projects.
  • Experience leading or developing process improvement initiatives within project controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, cost management systems, integrated cost/schedule systems, ERP/project controls software (e.g., Primavera, Viewpoint Vista, Procore, EcoSys, or similar).
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost forecasting, earned value management (EVM), and change management processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills with the ability to communicate complex cost data to non-financial audiences.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced project environment.
