Full Job Description
In this role, you will own the product data foundation of the Ibotta Performance Network. At the center of the IPN is a canonical catalog of the UPCs and SKUs brands promote, along with the systems that keep that data complete, accurate, enriched, and easy to use. This product data layer powers how campaigns are built, how products are identified across receipts and retailer systems, and how teams understand and target the right items.

In this role, you will set the strategy for the full product data stack: catalog management, automated enrichment and correction, identity resolution that maps receipt text and retailer SKUs to canonical GTINs, and the search, recommendation, and knowledge capabilities that help humans and agents discover and understand products in seconds. You will work at the intersection of AI/ML, data infrastructure, internal tooling, and commercial use cases to improve product accuracy, coverage, and usability at scale.

This position is located in Denver, Colorado as a hybrid position requiring 3 days in office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Candidates must live in the United States.

Not based in Denver? We will offer a relocation bonus to help make your move to the Mile High City a smooth one.

What you will be doing:
  • Own the product catalog end-to-end: the system of record, the schema, the read/write APIs, and the human tools to manage, review, and approve changes - and drive adoption so consuming surfaces read from one trusted product layer
  • Build the automated, self-improving enrichment engine that fills and corrects product attributes (category, brand, name, size, and more) at scale from first- and third-party sources
  • Own the product identity resolution and match layer: resolving receipt text and retailer SKUs to a canonical GTIN and keeping junk out of the catalog
  • Deliver product search and recommendations over the catalog so any tool, used by a human or agents, can quickly assemble the right UPC list and deeply understand products
  • Define, instrument, and report the north star metrics for each product data area, and use them to drive prioritization and roadmap trade-offs
  • Partner with Engineering, Analytics, and Decision Science to balance automated pipelines with human-in-the-loop review, and with consuming product teams to ensure clean data contracts and integrity across campaign design, execution, and measurement
  • Communicate vision & strategy for the platform, tactical roadmap milestones, trade-offs, and emerging opportunities to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Embrace and uphold Ibotta's Core Values: Integrity, Boldness, Ownership, Teamwork, Transparency, & A good idea can come from anywhere

What we are looking for:
  • 5+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years owning backend, platform, or infrastructure-heavy domain - ideally in catalog, data platforms, content systems, search, and/or ML/AI-adjacent products
  • BA/BS in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field required
  • Familiarity with data modeling, APIs, and data pipelines
  • Comfortable interrogating data directly and contributing confidently to technical design conversations with Decision Scientists and Engineers
  • Working understanding of ML-assisted data systems: you can reason about precision/recall trade-offs, confidence thresholds, and when to route work to human review
  • Decisive in ambiguity, with strong judgment on when to ship, when to invest in foundations, and when to push back on stated requirements to find the real underlying need
  • Deep, hands-on AI fluency - not just awareness. You should be an active, daily user of AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) and have experience building AI-powered workflows, automations, or integrations
  • Exceptional writing, verbal communication, and storytelling skills - you simplify complexity and rally teams
  • Demonstrated customer obsession: you proactively seek customer insights and convert them into product direction

Nice to have:
  • Experience with CPG or retail product data: GTIN/UPC standards, GS1, or syndicated data providers (e.g., Circana, NielsenIQ, Numerator)
  • Performance marketing, adtech, or retail media product environments

Additional Details:
  • This position is located in Denver, CO and includes competitive pay, flexible time off, benefits package (including medical, dental, vision), Employee Stock Purchase Program, and 401k match. Denver office perks include paid parking, snacks and occasional meals.
  • Base compensation range: $128,000 - $153,000. Equity is included in the overall compensation package. This compensation range is specific to the United States labor market and may be adjusted based on actual experience. Total compensation for this role also includes a variable component in addition to base salary.
