Full Job Description
What You'll Do
Own the surfaces that turn a visitor into a creator and a creator into a customer: onboarding, first-run, paywalls, upgrade prompts, pricing, credits, and checkout, from first concept through tested experiment.
Design the first five minutes: take someone from "I don't know where to start" to a first result they're proud of, shaped by what they came to make.
Turn business goals into design hypotheses: activation, conversion, expansion, retention. Design and read the experiments with growth PMs and data, and iterate on what moves the number.
Make the value legible: pricing, plans, and credits that people understand in one read, whether they're buying for themselves or a team. Clarity that converts, never tricks.
Teach without a manual: reveal what matters when it matters, and let people see what's possible instead of reading about it.
Turn winning variants into permanent product, consistent with the rest of OpenArt, and build the patterns so each experiment makes the next one cheaper.
Our Culture
At OpenArt, we value:
Ownership & Impact - Design is where the product gets decided, not where ideas go to get polished. You'll shape strategy, not just pixels.
Curiosity & Growth - We ask "what if?" a lot, build to find out, and share work early.
Collaboration & Openness - Ideas come from anywhere, and so does honest feedback. We co-create with engineers, founders, and the AI itself.
Human-Centered Design - AI feels cold by default. We put warmth in the small places: empty states, microcopy, the moment something fails.
What We're Looking For Hard Skills
You've moved a revenue or activation metric with design - onboarding, paywalls, pricing, or checkout, with the before and after to show.
Experiment literacy - hypotheses, variants, sample sizes, and reading a result honestly, including the ones you lose.
Strong UI craft at speed - a polished variant this week, ten more this month.
AI in your daily practice - prototyping in code, Claude, Figma Make or similar, with real opinions on where it helps.
Soft Skills
Data-curious - you want to know what happened, not just whether it shipped.
Bias to ship - you'd rather learn from a real test than debate a mock.
Partner to PMs and marketing - you bring the design point of view early.
Steady - most experiments lose, and you treat that as information, not a verdict.
Strong communicator - you can explain why a change should convert, not just that it looks better.
🤩 Example Ideal Candidate
Has owned onboarding, pricing, or paywalls at a consumer or prosumer product and can tell you the number it moved.
Writes their own copy and treats an empty state as a design brief.
Comfortable in a weekly experiment cadence without letting craft slip.
Excited about creators and storytelling, and about the moment someone makes their first thing with AI.
Location & Work Setup
Bay Area (full-time, on-site or hybrid)
High collaboration with founders and global engineering team.
