Job Responsibilities:

QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO DO THE JOB:

  • Immediate, open position
  • $80,000 - $120,000
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Materials Science, Polymer/Composite Technology, Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years process engineering experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Experience in Reaction Injection Molding (RIM), SMC composite processing or related polymer/composite manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrated understanding of material behavior, adhesion mechanisms, cure chemistry, solvent interaction, surface quality and the relationship between molding conditions and downstream process performance.
  • Experience in a Tier 1 automotive environment supporting OEMs.
  • Proven analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (English - spoken and written)
  • A self-starter with the ability to manage and execute projects independently

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Develop, validate and own RIM and SMC molding processes for new programs, tooling and ongoing production.
  • Support APQP/GCAR, PPAP, run-at-rate and launch activities, ensuring process capability and downstream customer requirements are understood and built into the process.
  • Apply SPC to identify, monitor and control key quality factors influencing molding and downstream results.
  • Lead collaborative troubleshooting and structured problem solving across molding and downstream process interfaces using PPSR, 8D, root cause analysis and data-driven validation, to address paint, surface appearance, cure-related concerns, material variation, tooling conditions and process stability.
  • Engage downstream internal customers to understand their requirements and translate feedback into appropriate process controls and improvement actions.
  • Collaborate with material, chemical, tooling and equipment suppliers to obtain technical input, guidance and escalation support when required.
  • Conduct regular reviews of process performance and communicate interim and final results related to yield, cycle time, defect reduction and corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvements and cost savings; materials, yield and cycle time improvements
  • Complete modification bulletins, quality alerts and customer responses.
  • Technical/project management (capital)
  • Train and mentor technicians and operators.
  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and customer requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
