Job Description
Scope of PositionThe Senior Process Design Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing intelligent ("smart") Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) utilizing Autodesk process design platforms. This role supports the successful execution of process-focused projects across the food, beverage, consumer products, and manufacturing markets.  In addition to project execution responsibilities, this position serves as a subject matter expert for smart P&ID methodologies, helping to advance Haskell's digital engineering capabilities through the development of standards, training programs, and mentoring of engineering and design professionals across the organization.  Job Responsibilities   Project Delivery & Technical Leadership
  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate intelligent P&IDs utilizing Autodesk Process Design solutions, including AutoCAD Plant 3D and related Autodesk engineering applications.
  • Create and manage process databases, equipment tags, line lists, instrument indexes, and associated project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with process, mechanical, controls, piping, and electrical disciplines to ensure accurate and integrated project deliverables.
  • Support process design efforts including process flow diagrams (PFDs)
  • Ensure P&ID data integrity and compliance with project, client, and company standards.
  • May participate in design reviews, model reviews, constructability reviews, and client meetings.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of process engineering and drafting standards, templates, and best practices.
Digital Engineering & Organizational Development
  • Serve as Haskell's technical resource for smart P&ID implementation and data-centric process design workflows.
  • Develop training materials, user guides, standards documentation, and best practices related to smart P&ID development.
  • Plan and conduct formal training sessions, workshops, and hands-on coaching for engineering and design personnel.
  • Mentor team members transitioning from traditional drafting workflows to intelligent process design environments.
  • Assist leadership in evaluating emerging Autodesk technologies and digital engineering solutions that enhance process project delivery.
  • Promote consistency in smart P&ID execution, data management, and project configuration across all business units.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to digital delivery, automation, and engineering efficiency.
  • Travel as required to support project and training activities.
  Education & Years of Experience
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Process Technology, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience developing process design documentation and P&IDs in industrial environments.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience utilizing Autodesk Plant 3D, AutoCAD P&ID, or similar intelligent process design platforms.
  • Experience supporting projects within the food, beverage, consumer products, manufacturing, life sciences, or related industrial markets preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant experience will be considered.
  Qualifications  Knowledge & Skills
  • Advanced expertise in Autodesk Plant 3D, AutoCAD P&ID, and associated Autodesk process design tools.
  • Strong understanding of smart P&ID databases, tagging structures, line numbering systems, instrumentation documentation, and data management practices.
  • Knowledge of industrial process systems including piping, utilities, instrumentation, controls, and process equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain company-wide standards for intelligent process design.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to teach technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives that improve engineering quality, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary project teams and independently on strategic initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
    • Autodesk Certified Professional credentials.
    • Experience creating technical training materials and delivering instructor-led training.
    • Experience implementing or administering enterprise Plant 3D environments.
    • Experience with engineering data integration, digital twins, asset information models, or automation workflows.
    • Familiarity with food and beverage processing, consumer products manufacturing, industrial utilities, and related process industries.

 

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

 

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
