Job Summary:In this strategic individual-contributor role, you will operate and serve as a recognized master in your discipline, establishing operational plans, guiding innovative engineering solutions, and shaping long-term technology direction. You will influence enterprise-wide technology standards, mentor engineers across locations, and deliver expert problem-solving for difficult challenges requiring sound judgment and deep technical knowledge.
This role offers the opportunity to directly influence Mercury's secure, scalable, and high-performance technology environment and contribute meaningfully to the evolution of IT policies, architectures, and practices.
- Provide senior-level technical leadership and serve as a functional team lead for Information Systems Engineers across multiple sites, promoting technical consistency, knowledge sharing, and effective execution.
- Design, deploy, monitor, and manage vital enterprise infrastructure (e.g. LAN, WAN, Wireless, Voice, etc.) with an emphasis on reliability, scalability, and security.
Establish operational plans and develop tactical engineering strategies that support major network modernization, expansion, and optimization initiatives. - Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies, architectures, and best practices that improve functional results and align with Mercury's long-term IT strategy.
Lead complex incident response efforts, executing advanced diagnostics, root-cause analysis, and resolution of hardware, software, and network-related issues. - Act as the primary technical lead on major enterprise network projects from planning through implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to shape IT policies, standards, and enterprise governance frameworks.
- Ability to present technical findings, architectural recommendations, and operational performance updates to senior leadership as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and adherence to network security requirements and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
- Typically requires 10+ years of related professional experience (aligned with Mercury IC5 Senior Principal level).
- Expert knowledge of data networking and integration principles, architectures, and operational best practices.
- Proven experience leading major network design, deployment, and modernization projects as a senior technical contributor.
- Strong understanding of network security concepts, controls, and compliance considerations.
- Experience working with domestic and international telecommunications vendors.
Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and guide engineering teams in a multi-site environment. - Ability to independently evaluate emerging technologies and recommend scalable, secure solutions.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve advanced hardware/software issues independently or collaboratively.
- Experience with voice/video communication and room-based conferencing across 20 sites worldwide.
- Proven Experience managing and supporting the following technologies:
- Virtualization Technologies both on-prem and in the cloud.
- Identity Management - Entra (Azure Identity), AWS, MS AD Management, ADFS, Radius
- DNS, PKI, and Certificate Management
- Storage, NAS, SAN - on-prem and cloud (Pure, Dell Power Store, NetApp, AWS, Azure,)
- Enterprise Voice - Teams Enterprise/Business Phone Systems, Crestron
- Backend Server Farm Management
- This position requires you to have or obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
Preferred Qualifications:- Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE).
- Experience with Checkpoint firewalls, Juniper remote access solutions, NAC technologies, or ForeScout CounterAct.
- Experience with routers, switches, cabling, TCP/IP, MPLS, VoIP, and data-center networking.
- Experience presenting technical strategies or operational updates to senior leadership.
Experience providing technical mentorship or leading cross-site engineering initiatives. - Familiar with AI technologies and extending AI into infrastructure in secure environments.
