Join VultrVultr is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Platform Engineer to own and evolve our critical DNS infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a seasoned infrastructure engineer with deep DNS expertise, strong Linux and networking fundamentals, and the ability to own and modernize complex internal services end-to-end. This is a highly visible role in a high-growth technology company, which will require hands-on technical ownership of production DNS systems, collaboration across engineering teams, and the ability to drive the future direction of internal platform services including API development in PHP , Go, or Rust. Key Responsibilities- Own and operate Vultr's DNS infrastructure at scale, including recursive DNS (Knot
- Resolver), reverse DNS, authoritative DNS, and integrations with PowerDNS instances.
- Maintain and evolve the PHP-based DNS API, contributing to its long-term direction
- including potential modernization in Go or Rust.
- Diagnose and resolve complex DNS and network incidents, serving as a subject matter
- expert across the organization.
- Drive automation and infrastructure-as-code practices across platform services,
- reducing toil and improving reliability.
- Collaborate with network and infrastructure teams on adjacent systems including BGP
- route reflectors and broader platform tooling.
- Contribute to observability and operational excellence by leveraging the team's
- monitoring stack (Grafana, Loki, Mimir) to improve visibility into DNS and platform
- service health.
Qualifications- 5+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or systems engineering in a production environment.
- Deep hands-on experience with DNS at scale - including recursive and authoritative
- DNS, DNSSEC, zone management, and troubleshooting complex resolution failures.
- Strong Linux systems engineering fundamentals including networking, service
- management, and operational ownership of production services.
- Experience building or maintaining APIs or automation layers, with proficiency in PHP
- and/or Go or Rust.
- Demonstrated experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management
- tooling (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
Compensation$125,000 - $135,000
Final compensation will vary depending on years of experience, background/skill set, location, and applicable laws.
